THE fifth renewal of the Boleybawn Horses online foal auction, curated by Ronan Rothwell, took place on September 11th and proved to be a resounding success. Out of 17 foals offered, 12 were sold, achieving standout results and setting a new high mark for the event.
The headline of the evening came when the full-brother of Olympic show jumper Kilkenny, Pembrook Kilmashogue (Lot 1), sold for €40,500 to a young rider based in Co Wexford - a milestone moment for the sale and a proud result for Boleybawn Horses.
Other highlights included Boleybawn Rapunzel, a filly by All Road 2000 Z, purchased for €21,000 by a Northern Ireland-based businessman, who also secured two Boleybawn Alvaro fillies: Boleybawn Chilli for €9,000 and Boleybawn Montana for €15,500.
Boleybawn Roulette, a striking filly by the proven Irish-based stallion Der Senaat 111, sold for €20,000 and will travel to a new home in Germany. Foals also sold to Norway, United Kingdom, Belgium, Germany and Ireland.
While the auction delivered strong averages and international interest, it was noteworthy that the two offspring of the talented mare Boleybawn Alexa - herself selected to represent at Lanaken - did not reach their reserves.
Reflecting on the evening, auction host Ronan Rothwell commented: “I was blown away by the support for the auction and we have sold our highest-priced foal to a local rider, which is special in many ways. To see the Boleybawn Alvaro progeny in demand was also very rewarding to watch. I really appreciate our clients’ trust in what we do and can’t wait to get stuck into our three- and four-year-old Auction, which takes place in December.”
