Moloney voted Star of the Month

CONGRATULATIONS to Emily Moloney who was voted The Irish Field/Gain Equine Nutrition Star of the Month for July. During that time, Moloney was crowned the Junior European champion in Riesenbeck, Germany where she also helped Ireland win the team gold medal riding Temple Alice. Well done Emily.

Royal Meath Show

THE Royal Meath Show is set to take place on Sunday, September 7th in Trim, Co Meath. This year’s show will look slightly different as, with thanks to the Office of Public Works, the committee have permission to use the site of the Porch Fields. Among the features of the show will be a €500 ridden hunter class, as well as a racehorse retraining class and a ladies’ side saddle class, both worth €300. Other categories include riding horses, working hunters, breeding and showing classes. Horse entries close online on Thursday, September 4th at 7pm. Some classes may close earlier if the number of entries exceeds class capacity.

CPW Search for a Star

THE countdown is on for the Connemara Pony World Search for a Star Championship, set for Sunday, September 14th at Barnadown Equestrian in Co Wexford, held in conjunction with the Irish Pony Society Hunter Show. Pine View Ice Cool, a past Search for a Star winner, proved the value of this platform by going on to win the five to seven-year-old Connemara Performance Hunter at the Dublin Horse Show last week.

The championship features a four-year-old (85cm), five-year-old (95cm) and a new novice ridden championship for four and five-year-olds. A prize fund of €4,000 is on offer, thanks to support from Horse Sport Ireland.

Foal registration prices

HORSE Sport Ireland has reminded breeders that the reduced rate of €147.60 for foal registrations with pedigree (or pedigree and naming - €159.90) is available until tomorrow, August 31st 2025. Thereafter, the cost increases to €200 for registrations with pedigree (or €210 for pedigree and naming). HSI said the easiest and most efficient way to submit your application is through the online system Horse Source, while a paper application costs an additional €25. Breeders planning on entering foal sales in October should not delay in registering their foals.

Five-star Nations Cup

THE Irish show jumping team were back in five-star Nations Cup action yesterday (Friday) in the Henders and Hazel Nations Cup in Brussels. Michael Blake’s team of Bertram Allen with Pacino Amiro (ISH), Trevor Breen with Highland President, Max Wachman with Kilkenny (ISH) and Billy Twomey with Jumping Jack Van de Kalevallei finished 10th. Breen jumped the team’s only clear round, while Allen and Twomey finished with four faults and Wachman with five faults. Full report next week.
