THE Hardiman/Field family concluded their visit to Balmoral on a high note last Saturday when Jane Field won the Rydale working hunter pony championship on her mother Marjorie’s home-bred Connemara gelding, Creganna Dandini.

However, they will soon be on their travels again as Field and the 13-year-old Cashelbay Prince grey won a HOYS qualifier at the British Show Pony Society summer championship show in Grantham in August when they also won their 153cms Heritage working hunter class and were reserve in the champion of champions.

Like many others during the worst of the pandemic, 20-year-old Field, who is studying Agricultural Science at UCD, found herself moving home and, rather than just spend hours online, she decided to combine her studies with working as a groom for international event rider Cathal Daniels. Now back at college, she will be taking another little break next week to travel to Birmingham.

Earlier in the week, Field’s 14-year-old sister Lara won the Connemara working hunter class for riders under 16 on Dandini’s older half-sister, Creganna Belle (by Frederiksminde Hazy Match). The pair are out of the Tulira Robuck mare Prospect Suzy who was also represented at Balmoral by Creganna Kerfuffle who was fifth in her 143cms WH.
