What company do you work for? TRM

Job title: Marketing manager

How many are on your team? Three

What did you study in college?

BSc. Equine Science in University of

Limerick and a Masters in Equine

Nutrition in Writtle University

What is your equestrian experience? In a hands-on capacity, I have worked predominantly in the show jumping sector from Ireland to Austria and Germany. I spent time in breeding barns in Ireland and in Kentucky, USA. I have a love of National Hunt racing and like to go as often as I can. The last number of years I have been involved more on the administrative and commercial side of the sector.

What does your job involve?

My role in TRM is quite varied as we deal with over 80 countries globally and aim to support each and every one of them from branding, graphic design, marketing strategies to nutritional advice. We continue to be creative and innovative to ensure the brand is recognisable in the global market place.

What do you enjoy most about the job?

I like to see new products develop and come on stream and in turn benefit the health and welfare of horses. Getting positive feedback is also fantastic, we see some fantastic messages on social media and this really does make our day. It is also great taking calls from our global ambassadors who say ‘I am off to a championship’. It is super to have the likes of Steve Guerdat, Markus Ehning, and Oliver Townend not just using but wanting our products.

What is your biggest challenge?

Ensuring the messages reaching the end users are practical and founded on scientific fact and not ‘spin’ which is seen so much in marketing in other sectors and brands. The health and wellbeing of the horses is first and foremost.

How is the coronavirus crisis affecting TRM?

The way we work has certainly changed and we are adhering strictly to the recommended government guidelines. It is strange times, but both the sector and the company are resilient and will move forward from this. We continue to dispatch orders to our customers to ensure the health and welfare of the equines themselves.
