LISA Baker had a busy day on Saturday when Malahow Grace’s Legacy won several championships at the IDHBA national show. She bought the three-year-old filly from breeder Jenny Banks as a 40th birthday present for her husband John, whose late grandmother Mary Baker bred Arkle.
The couple’s two children - Harriet (5) and Jack (3) - were also at Punchestown and Harriet has already won several championships with her lead rein pony Greendown Mandarin, including the supreme mini title at the IPS Kildare/North Leinster summer show at Tattersalls.
Future exhibitors in the making and, in the meantime, Lisa produces their filly from home and hands over the lead rein to Lorcan Glynn at shows.
“Lorcan first led her at the National Show in 2024. The pair are a fantastic match and look great in the ring together. Lorcan brought a wealth of showing experience to the ring and comes from a well-known showing family,” Lisa said.
“He’s fantastic with young horses. We’re delighted to get to know him and his family and look forward to seeing Lorcan and Malahow Grace’s Legacy back in the ring together next year.”
