MARY Mangan was the runaway winner of the Dunboyne Castle Hotel & Spa CNC* League for 2014, amassing a magnificent 53 points with her Well Made six-year-old thoroughbred gelding Curraheen Duke. Mangan gained three wins and seven top-six finishes during her campaign.

Denis Currie finished in second place with Bering Strait, recording four straight league wins and two top-six places.

Third place went to Emily Sayers and Whats That Sportsfield (33 points), while fourth went to Rhona Healy and Night Busker (30 points). Davina Gray and DSL The Mooche (20 points) finished fifth and Meadhbh Schaible riding Emilia Van Erpekom finished sixth (17 points).

Some 39 combinations were eligible for league points as Eventing Ireland members.

The Old Ground Hotel, Ennis EI100 League was won at the final league event at Kedrah Castle in Tipperary. Louise O’Brien and Stonehavens Olive recorded their first win of the season at Grove in early October, taking them to 30 points, hot on the heels of Jaemi Cochrane and Kilpatrick Honey who were leading the league table with 31 points.

Camella McDowell and Sarah A Moore were also close behind, and in positions to challenge for the league runner-up position so all eye were on the Kedrah line-up.

O’Brien was one of 10 strong combinations who started the class. Caroline O’Leary and Balcarrig had the best preparation for their Aldon International three-day event by winning the class on their dressage score of 31.5. O’Brien was delighted to slot into second place and earn six points, giving her a winning total of 36 league points and a margin of five points in the league lead over Jaemi Cochrane and Kilpatrick Honey (31 points).

Third place went to Camella McDowell and Touching Gold (29 points) and fourth to Sarah A Moore and Shameless (23 points). Fifth place was shared by three combinations;

Caroline O’Leary and Balcarrig, Kathryn Tottenham and Rosheen Diamond Imp and

Russell Alexander and Cuan Cottown Charlie (all on 21 points).

Despite a late challenge by consistent performer Hazel McCarthy and Up A Gear (winner at Kedrah in October), Ellen Graham and Lisfuncheon Chinook retained their league lead after Knockany in September.

Graham’s tally of a win and six placings earned her 32 points and the Castle Leslie Estate EI90 League title, just two ahead of league runner-up Helen Pannell and Golden Spa, who had two wins and five top six placings.

Third place went to Karen McKee and Kool Style (24 points), fourth to Hazel McCarthy and Up A Gear (17 points), fifth to Judith McCarthy and Mixed Up (16 points) and sixth to Jane Grace and Welwyn View (13 points).
