THE Fernhill Sport Horse Centre combination of Fraser Duffy and Primus won the 2014 Connolly’s Red Mills Super League, which concluded on Sunday at Tattersalls.

The Kilkenny pairing didn’t compete at the Co Meath venue, where the final A/CNC** round of the series was won by Jayne Doherty and The Only One, but did contest six of the eight legs which took place around the country. They were placed each time, winning twice, for a total of 34 points. Joseph Murphy was second and third on DHI Top Story (16) and Westwinds Hercules (15) respectively.

Seventy horse/rider combinations took part in the Super League series which started in Tyrella in March. There were five O/CNC** and three A/CNC** legs, with double points awarded for the advanced intermediate classes.

As winners of the SuperLeague, Fraser and Primus will be sponsored by Connolly’s Red Mills for a year.

All combinations who completed one leg of the series qualified to compete in the Connolly’s Red Mills Super League championship, which takes place today at Scarvagh.

Primus and Westwinds Hercules are among the 11 entries, as is Euro Prince (Clare Abbot) who is looking for a confidence-builder following the World Equestrian Games.
