EVENTING Ireland is undertaking measures to ensure the best possible ground for riders and horses during the prolonged dry spell.

Any watering that is carried out is done so from event organisers’ own resources such as nearby rivers, lakes and reservoirs.

Eventing Ireland recently purchased an Agrivator using the Sports Capital Grant Scheme.

This machine is available for use at any EI national and international events.

The Agrivator is used for aerating and decompacting hard ground. It is extensively used for taking the firmness out of the ground, particularly during the dry months, improving ground safety.

The Agrivator has recently been used at Grove, Kilguilkey International and national events and is being used at Ballindenisk to prepare the ground for this weekend.

All enquiries regarding hire of the Eventing Ireland Agrivator should be to Peter Fell.

In an effort to help defray some of the additional expenses being incurred by our event organisers during the dry weather, Eventing Ireland is offering financial support, on a case by case basis, to event organisers who have in the recent past and are making efforts to responsibly water their tracks for EI events.

The Eventing Ireland Board will consider reasonable and vouched requests and will consider each application on its merits and both reserves its rights and gives no guarantees on the operation of this short term emergency facility.

All Eventing Ireland event organisers have been sent the relevant information and forms to apply either the Agrivator or for assistance regarding watering.

BALLYVANNON OFF

Eventing Ireland’s website has posted: “Due to the current spell of dry weather and with very little rain forecast in the foreseeable future, the organisers have decided to cancel the event planned at Ballyvannon for Saturday, July 21st.”
