GORESBRIDGE has announced that it will run a new stand-alone sale of pre-selected event horses at the end of May.

The move was prompted by requests from vendors, and will be run on similar lines to the successful Go For Gold sale but as an independent entity.

It will take place just before the Tattersalls International horse trials on the evening of Monday, May 30th.

“This will be a separate sale, not another Go For Gold,” said Donohoe.

“Our vendors here in Ireland have indicated that they would be keen to support an early summer sale, as for some November is a long time to wait.”

The date falls well for the Co Kilkenny company, which will have wrapped up its flat breeze-up sale and will have the venue, complete with hospitality marquee, all in situ.

“A lot of overseas visitors will be across for Tattersalls, and this sale will give us a perfect opportunity to offer a small but select group of event horses at Goresbridge to an international audience, and with the facilities to accommodate them,” added Donohoe. “All lots will have been videoed in action prior to the sale, and will be showcased further and tried at Goresbridge.”

The selection dates have yet to be confirmed, but Donohoe revealed that the sale will be open to proven or potential event horses from four years of age. All will be sold pre-vetted and with a set of X-rays.

“We will broadly follow the same marketing campaign as the Go For Gold. The sale, together with the online footage will be promoted worldwide.”
