THE Irish junior eventing team finished fifth overall at the European eventing championships at Bialy Bor in Poland on Sunday.

The Irish quartet of Shannon Nelson (Ols Back Chat), Adam Haugh (Jantar), Robbie Kearns (Garrybritt Bonny) and Nessa Briody (Tom Boy), finished on a combined score of 198.20 penalties. Germany secured the gold medal on 137.50 with France taking silver (166.40) and Britain coming home with the bronze (176.00).

Nessa Broidy was best placed of the Irish in the individual standings taking 10th place after finishing clear in the cross country phase, with Robbie Kearns in 11th position. Sam Micklem and Tessa Harley were also competing for Ireland in the individual competition. Micklem finished in 30th position with Smart Spirit, while Harley finished 38th with Catsky.
