Round-up and underage

COMPLETING a good day and indeed a good week for the MBF team, their former resident MBF Lord Lancer Bobbie headed the EI 90 under Alana-Rose Steele. Another bred by Oliver Walsh, the winner very creditably delivered one of just three double clears in a strong field of 25 starters.

There were seven underage classes, including four over the EI 110 tracks. On Saturday Laura Archdeacon landed her first junior win with the former Storm O’Connor-ridden Hacketts Cross, while in the pony sector Aine Connolly and Myshall Onzio completed as the sole runner.

Sunday’s EI 110 classes were also light on numbers, with Jude Donohue and Poynstown Cubby emerging the best of three in the junior division, and Hannah Willis and My Beau Beaut posting their first win under rules when leading the quintet in the ponies.

The EI 100 classes were better supported, and landing the most poignant of wins, Josh Williamson piloted Jane Hancock’s Ardeo Fireman to head the field in the pony sector (See page 100).

By virtue of a better dressage mark, Aaron Doyle and the Connemara Paddy B took the spoils in the EI 100 (J) and in doing so denied a hat-trick of wins for second-placed Jess Widger and Grantstown Spirit.

Finally, and concluding a busy weekend, Georgina Pettit and Cillbhrid Dot Com led from flag fall to take the honours in the EI 90 (J).
