Shanahan and Swan shine in junior division

THERE were a massive 10 underage classes over the two days, all of which were keenly contested. Susan Shanahan (Eisfee) and Olivia Swan (Silver Brog) continued their good winning runs in the EI 110 (J) divisions, while the pony equivalents fell to the experienced partnerships of Alex Connors (Knockborden Revelation) and Rachel Lucey (Woodfield Clover Joker).

In the first of the EI 100 (P) sectors Matthew Love cemented his new partnership with the winning Connemara mare Tullaree Ruby Tuesday, while Sunday’s spoils went to Georgina Pettit and Ballyerk Black Beauty.

The two junior EI 100 classes fell to in-form combinations that have recently caught the eye. Both led from the front, with Matthew Kelly and Ah To Be Sure racking up their second such class in the space of four days, and Jess Widger landing a back to back win aboard the home-bred five-year-old mare Grantstown Spirit in Saturday’s equivalent

There were also two EI 90 (P) sectors, the first of which was well won by Esta Isobelle Roche with the Connemara Vermount Bobbys Girl, and the second to Tom Nestor and Freddie, who now have a win and a runner-up placing from their only two runs under rules.
