TWELVE months ago, this autumn renewal delivered an exceptionally strong trade, most notably in the four-year-old and previously weaker three-year-old divisions. This time around, the catalogue appears stouter, with all sectors offering a selection of stock with standout form and/or pedigrees.

The obvious eye-catcher is the international event horse Piltown OBOS, who represented Ireland at Le Lion d’Angers, before completing Blenheim (CCI4*) and Millstreet (CCI4*). Other standouts include this year’s RDS three-year-old show horse winner and reserve champion MGH Riddon Ridge, as well as a four-year-old half-brother to the popular sire Lagans OBOS Quality.

While the stallion list is familiarly headed by Vivant Van de Heffinck (18), the newer names of Conticco (14) and SIEC Livello (11) are also well represented. Others to stand out are Sligo Candy Boy (11), as well as Grand Cru, who has nine progeny forward.

Lot 189 Lagans Kassander Lady, reg 5 yo b m 16.1hh by Kassender Van’t Roosakker out of Calvo Queen (Cavalier Royale). She is a half-sister to the very popular sire Lagans OBOS Quality (1.50m), as well as to Lagans KBS Calvo Lad (1.40m) and the event horses Global Narco (CCI4*) and Mosstown Calleto (CCI3*). Described as a straightforward mare with an excellent temperament, a natural, careful, scopey athletic jump combined with a good technique.
