A SELECTION of performance ponies and competition horses stand out in Wednesday’s one-day sport horse sale at Cavan. Following nationwide trends, the entry to date is considerably smaller than 12 months ago but is likely to be boosted by a supplementary sheet.

The seasonal emphasis is on stock with current competition form, as well as a number of well-related mares. One of the notable lots is the Connemara performance stallion Kilpatrick Fionn Og, and as the only stallion son of the international grade A show jumping sire Kilpatrick Fionn, he could be an attractive prospect.

A group of three and four-year-olds bring the sale to a close, and while these are light numerically, there appears to be some smart individuals included.

With three lots entered, the sport horse sire Ricardo Royale heads the stallion list, while Arkan is represented by two.
