OPENING the elite foal sale season, the Goresbridge Supreme sale of show jumping foals is due to take place at Barnadown in Co Wexford next Saturday. As always, this popular fixture is staged in conjunction with the Irish Breeders’ Classic show jumping championships, whose prize fund benefits from 2% of the turnover.

Truly select, the 13 entrants in this year’s catalogue initially came under the scrutiny of Alain Storme and Brendan Doyle before they were whittled down to those catalogued below. There is two smartly bred embryos in utero which, selling as the first two lots, are hoped to set the pace for the evening. The attractive catalogue displays the full pedigrees and photographs of each lot, as well as a useful resume of every stallion featured. Video footage can be viewed online.
