LIVELY interest is expected ahead of some 30 selected Irish hunters and event horses due to go under the hammer at Mullingar Equestrian Centre on Friday, September 4th next.
The Select Show and Sale will follow the format of the successful Traditional Irish Horse Association ‘Show & Go’ hunter sales held in Mullingar in previous years.
According to Mullingar’s Declan Fagan, the horses will be showcased over a compact cross-country course commencing at 2pm, followed by the auction at 5pm. The showing and sale will be livestreamed on irishsporthorseauctions.com.

The Hunter Sale will be followed by a Performance Sale of Horse and Ponies, three-years-old and upwards, on Saturday, September 5th, at 10.30am.
Show & Sale Lots
Lot 1 Cloonan Lionhawk, 4yo gr g, 16hh, by Harkaway Lionhawk out of Lady Dubhessa by Cappa Cochise. Described as hunted with the North Galway Foxhounds by a lady. Will go in front or behind. Has also competed at training shows and one day events. Quiet to shoe, box, clip and ride in traffic.
Lot 2 Rock View Tweed, 5yo gr g, 16.3hh by CC Captain Cruise out of Cottage Madame by Castana. Hunted with Ballymacad Foxhounds, the Meath Foxhounds and Westmeath Foxhounds over two seasons. Will cross any country and will jump first or last. Rockview Tweed has also competed as a working hunter. An ideal masters or huntsman’s horse.
Lot 3 Unnamed, 4yo gr f by Gleneven Rebel (ID) out of Della (ISH) by Mountain Diamond (ID). A quality filly with three lovely paces. Very quiet to catch, tack, shoe, etc. Has done hunter trials and has also hunted with the North Galways on a few occasions towards the end of the season. This is a quality filly that can jump.
Lot 4 4yo bl g, 16.2hh by Dilshaan out of Step to the Sky by Sky Boy. The dam of this gelding bred many successful horses in the eventing field including Madges Lane Eric, second in the Young Event Horse Class at Dublin as a four-year-old. He is also a half-brother to the successful event horse My Sunday Best. Big good looking gelding with a great step and a temperament to match.
Lot 5 Ceadie Prince, 5yo ro gr g, 17hh, by Ceide Prince (ID) out of Ross Start (ISH) by Blue Champion (ID). Has hunted with the Ballymacads and with the Westmeath Foxhounds and has done numerous charity rides. Will hunt up front or behind. Easygoing, steady horse, everybody’s ride. Good to load, shoe and clip.
Lot 6 Gortnalee Friday, 4yo gr g, 16.2hh, by Elusive wager (TB), out of Gortnalee Lass by The Bard. A nice young horse with loads of potential. Not long broken but schooling well. Been produced in a hunting yard but so far he seems to be showing the signs that he might be more suited to eventing.
Lot 7 Echo King Prospect, 4yo gr g, 16.3 hh, by Echo King out of Bouncing Queen by Clew Bay Bouncer. Has hunted with the North Galway Foxhounds. He is happy up front or behind. Will cross any ground. Has competed at training shows and hunter trials. Quiet to shoe, box, clip and ride in traffic.
Lot 8 Dervor Delight, 5yo lv ch g, 16.3 hh, by Harlequin Du Carel out of Dervor Lass by Crannagh Hero. Has hunted with the Ballymacad Foxhounds and competed as a working hunter. Dervor Delight is a full-brother to Dervor Lad who competed successfully with Louise Codd in a Future Event Horse class at Dublin before sale to the UK. He also has another full-brother competing succesfully in the USA.
Lot 9 Boolagh Bear Necessitites, 9yo b/br g, 16.3hh, by Remington Clover out of Ballybooden Lass. Hunted as a four-year-old. Heavily campaigned as a middleweight hunter last season (2019), never out of the top three. Won three open working hunter classes. Placed in middleweight Royal International qualifier at Tattersalls July Show. Awarded Champion Ridden Hunter at Ossory Show, Supreme Ridden Horse at Ossory Show, Champion Ridden Hunter at Nenagh Show, Champion Hunter at Dualla Show, Supreme Ridden Horse at Dualla.
Lot 10 Rathgoonane Rocket, 12yo pd m, 14.1 hh, by Coolfin King out of Laragh Robin by Corrib Prince. Hunted four seasons. Has won numerous hunter trials, showjumping competitions, derby’s, one-day events and pony club events. Competed at Pony Club National Finals in Barnadown in 2019. Snaffle mouth. Hacks out alone or in company. Very safe, brave pony.
Lot 11 Crannard Solar Eclipse, 5yo d g. Has been lightly hunted with the Galway Blazers and North Galway Foxhounds. Has been to training shows, jumping up to 1m, and has been schooled cross-country.
Lot 12 Addigoole Cashel Hero, 4yo gr g, 15.1hh, by Currachmore Cashel out of Adrigoole Breeze by Cloonisle Cashel. Hunted for one season with the North Galway Foxhounds by a teenage girl. Great to cross any ground while minding his rider. Will go in front or behind. Has competed at hunter trials and one day events. Quiet to shoe, box clip and ride in traffic.
Lot 13 Hollyhill Star, 4yo gr f by Harkaway Lionhawk (ID Class1) out of Cariel More Star (ID Class1) by Mourne Mountain Star (ID Class 1). Quality, flashy RID mare. Very quiet filly to catch, tack up, shoe, etc. This filly has hunter trialled and hunted with the North Galways on a few occasions towards the end of the season.
Lot 14 Python 4yo b g, 17hh, by Cobra 18 out of Corlisheen Princess by Castana. Good looking horse with good conformation and three lovely paces. Taking to work very well and showing great potential.
Lot 15 Champagne On Ice, 6yo gr g, 16.3hh by Jumbo. A big, good looking horse. A very easy ride and will look well with any hunt.
Lot 16 Oran’s Cillo, 4yo gr g, 15.1 hh, by Curry Felix out of Olivia’s Girl by Sweetwall Captain Courageous. Has competed at training shows and one-day events. Has also hunted with the North Galway Foxhounds with a lady rider. Quiet to shoe, box, clip and ride in traffic.
Lot 17 Privateering, 7yo gr g by Boswell Mr Heartbreaker out of Courage Cruise by Courage II. Hunted for the past three seasons with the Clares and the Galway Blazers, and whipped-in all last season with the North Galway Foxhounds. Has done training shows up to one-metre. A very good horse who will face any challenge on the hunting field.
Lot 18 Lachain Coco, 8yo ch g, 16.2hh, by Iroko out of Lachain Cruise Dancer by Cruising. Hunted two full seasons with the Woodstown Harriers. Competed at training shows up to 1.20m level with ease. Lots of scope, very careful and brave, very good step and a great canter.
Lot 19 Thorstown Play Boy, 5yo ch g, 16.2 hh by Diamond Design out of Nearly Mac by Nearly A Nose. Good looking individual with three good paces. Well hunted with the Ballymacad Foxhounds. Will cross any country, first or last.
Lot 20 Sparkleizer, 4yo ch g, 16.2hh by Womanizer out of Kyle Sparkler by Shannon Dale Y2K. Has competed at training shows and been schooled cross-country. Very easy horse, with a great step. Thought to make a top class eventer.
Lot 21 Prospect Finn, 5yo gr g, 16.1 hh, by Castlegar Fin Grove out of Kilcahills Delight by Huntingfield Rebel. Has hunted with the North Galway Foxhounds for one season. Will go up front or stay behind. Has competed at training shows, hunter trials and one-day events. Quiet to shoe, box, clip and ride in traffic.
Lot 22 Knockmeal Silver Mist, 7yo gr g, 16.2hh, by Luke Skywalker (ID) out of Droum Bridge Lass (ISH) by Kahtan (GB) (TB). Performed and placed in numerous novice and open working hunter competitions. Has hunted and ridden in riding club dressage, showjumping and cross-country events. Show jumped in 90cm and 1m leagues. Lovely forward going type, shows great scope and athleticism over jumps. Easy to box and shoe.
Lot 24 Juniors Clover, 5yo gr m, 16hh, by Castlelawn Captain Junior out of Castlelawn Diamond Clover by White Clover. Jumped clear in five-year-old Irish Horse Board class, and in the National Four-Year-Old Discovery and the 1.10m at the Millstreet International in 2019. Currently competing up to 1.15m.
Lot 25 Charlie, 12yo gr g, 16.2hh, by Roma Caen Hill Flight out of Quansboro Jane by Pride of Glenogra. Hunted with the Galway Blazers and the East Clares for six seasons. He has done unaffiliated SJ and cross-country, plus mountain trekking and casual hacking. Described as a fantastic example of the Traditional Irish Draught, with loads of scope, super brave in the hunting field and with his feisty yet super temperament.
Lot 26 Mallmore Rodger, 9yo gr g, 15.2hh. Competed by 13-year-old girl in pony club events, non-registered show jumping, one-day events and also hunted for three seasons. Quiet in every way. Hacks out alone or with company.
Lot 27 Duke, 8yo b g, 16.3hh, by Well Chosen (TB) out of Lissavalley Lady (ID) by Flagmount Diamond (RID). Home-bred horse out of a premium RID mare that has produced show winners and has progeny in the Garda Mounted Unit. Hunts up front or behind. Done a little dressage and has been placed. No lumps or blemishes.
Lot 28 Edenbann Jasper. Hunted all last season with the North Galway Hunt. Schooled cross-country and has competed at training shows. Will cross-country and will go first or last.
