A CZECH-led syndicate of international show jumpers last week paid £30,000 for a three-parts brother to the Irish Sport Horse Olympic nominee MHS Going Global.
The foal, which was named BP Gone Global in an online competition, was sold at an auction at Bolesworth International Show last weekend.
The bay colt, owned by Greg Broderick, was put up for auction with all proceeds going to two charities, The Jack & Jill Children’s Foundation and Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital, Crumlin.
The foal was purchased by Emma Augier De Moussac from the Czech Republic as part of a syndicate of friends that also includes Lorenzo De Luca from Italy and Vincent Voorn, son of Albert Voorn.
The colt is out of Broderick’s Ballypatrick Flight, who is a half-sister to MHS Going Global. The foal is by Quidam Junior, sire of MHS Going Global.
The foal’s half-brother, a bay colt by Elvis Ter Putte, was sold at the Irish Breeders Classic/Goresbridge Select Sale of Show Jumpers in Barnadown last year for the top price of €22,000.
Speaking to The Irish Field, Broderick said: “He’s actually a cracking foal when you see him at home in the field, he’s real playful and very active, he’d remind you of a foal that’s going to jump, but of course there is no guarantees with foals. But I do think he should do really well on the night and it’s nice. It gives you a nice feeling and it’s nice to give something back.”
Some 14 yearlings ewere auctioned at Bolesworth, selling for a combined total of £198,500.
BP Gone Global toped the sale, selling for £30,000, but the next highest price was £24,000, paid for Lot 1, Millfield Collini, a grey colt by Cornet Obolensky x Caretino x Lesanto.
Lot 9, Carden Crosskeys, a chesnut filly by For Pleasure x Lord Z x Diamonds are Trumps was sold at £14,000 to Ireland. The filly was sold last autumn by her breeder, Matthew McBreen at Cavan’s Elite Foal Sale.
Nina Barbour, director of Bolesworth LLP, said “We were delighted with the response to this year’s Bolesworth Elite Auction. We were also very proud to support Greg Broderick who donated his super foal BP Gone Global, and raised £30,000 for two such worthy causes.”
