Dr Noel Cawley and his daughter Lisa run their breeding operation at Newpark Lodge Stud in Eadestown, Co Kildare.

The Cawley family have bred multiple five-star show jumping horses, including the Nations Cup horses Touchable, Mullaghdrin Touch the Stars, Mullaghdrin Gold Rain and Cruise on Clover.

What foals are you expecting in 2020?

We hope to have the following foals: a Tangelo Van De Zuuthoeve out of Golden Exchange (Cruising x Clover Hill); Tangelo Van De Zuuthoeve out of her full-sister Cruise Leaf, who is the mother of Ballypatrick Flamenco and Glimmering; Plot Blue out of Glimmering (Loughehoe Guy x Cruising); Emerald van’t Ruytershof out of Overruled (Cruising x Puissance), mother of Emerald Mystique; HHS Cornet out Winter Cruise (Cruising x Irco Mena), brother to Mullaghdrin Touch The Stars; HHS Cornet out of Jackie OH (Jack of Diamonds x Cruising); Malito De Reve out of Lexi Lady (Flexible x Clover Hill), sister to BP Hybernia and Dowth Hall.

What are your stallion choices for this season?

In 2020, if we can, we may use Casall, Coupe De Coeur, Plot Blue, Eldorado, Emerald van’t Ruytershof and we are still considering some others.

How do you make your stallion choices?

We like to use stallions and relations that are/were successful at 1.60m and in Championship classes.
