BREEDERS, owners, riders, producers and students have been invited to take part in what the Warmblood Studbook of Ireland (WSI) is calling ‘interactive stallions inspections’ at Millstreet on November 1st-2nd.

The initiative will see anyone interested invited to score personally each stallion’s pedigree, conformation, movement, athleticism, and jumping potential and the compare their results with those of the WSI and KWPN inspectors.

The scoring forms will be freely available to download and you can take part in person at Millstreet or virtually, through livestreaming and recorded video of the inspections.

WSI founder Tom Reed said the aim was to educate and help anyone interested in developing their skills to evaluate horses for breeding and sport.

“In the future WSI hopes to develop a smartphone app for this purpose,” he said. “But in the meantime WSI invites you to sharpen your pencil and get ready to score.”

Meanwhile, the studbook, along with its partner KWPN Studbook, is to host an information meeting for stallion owners, riders and producers next Tuesday, October 11th to explain the stallion approval process and offer advice on preparing a stallion for inspection.

The session will be held in Flannery’s Hotel in Galway, next to Galway-Mayo Institute of Technology.

Stage 1 stallions inspections are set to take place in Tralee on October 10th, Claregalway on October 11th, Tubberbride on October 12th, Warrington on October 24th and Mullingar on October 25th.

Stage 2 and Stage 3 inspections are in Millstreet on October 31st and November 1st-2nd.
