Top Lot week two 2018: Michael O’Callaghan’s three-year-old gelding by OBOS Quality (dam by Aldatus Z) €15,700.
OFFERING an increased catalogue of 430 lots, next week’s three-year-old renewal in Goresbridge is set to be a lively affair. An important date in the calendar for pinhookers and private buyers alike, the catalogue offers a wealth of varying bloodlines as well as some of the best maternal pedigrees in the country. Among them are siblings to the Burghley seventh-placed event horse Santiago Bay (Gemma Tattersall), as well as the jumpers CSF Vendi Cruz (1.60m), and Dartans Quality Brigade (1.50m).
As usual most of the popular covering sires are represented, most notably the Coolballyshan resident duo OBOS Quality and Future Trend. The former has headed the stallion lists for the past few years, and as last year’s sale-topping sire, once again dominates this entry with 29 progeny on offer. Stablemate Future Trend is also well represented with 11 forward, but another to make a big impact on the figures is the Tullabeg Stud stallion Dignified Van’t Zorvliet. The Nicky Cousins-owned stallion features with 17 progeny, while leading the thoroughbred ranks with eight apiece are Golden Master and Island Commander.
Lot 357 Real Litany, reg 3yo b g 16.1hh by KEC Maximum Joe out of Real Caroline (Luidam). An attractively bred individual, this gelding is out of a half-sister to the Grand Prix mare J. Silky while the second dam by Cavalier Royale is a full-sister to the Lanaken-placed Ark Royale. Adding further depth, the third dam was by Master Imp, and a full-sister to the Tattersalls World Cup-winning event horse Ashdale Cruise Master (Oliver Townend).
Lot 391 CSF Tin Tin, reg 3yo b g 17.2hh by Chin Chin out of CSF Clover Cruz (Cruising). Combining two great bloodlines, this well-related gelding is a half-brother to highly rated international jumper CSF Vendi Cruz (1.60m), while the dam is a sibling to the three-star event horse Killossery Ringwood.
Lot 465 Unnamed, reg 3yo b g 16.1hh by Tajaraasi out of Carthys Cottage (Puissance). A three-parts brother to this weekend’s Burghley CCI5* runner and British European event shortlisted Alfies Clover, ridden by Richard Jones.
Lot 474 AKD Ballistic, reg 3yo ch g 16.2hh by Balou du Rouet out of AKD Possession (Puissance). A full-brother to AKD Cooley Lockdown, who in 2017 was ranked the leading six-year-old event horse in Europe and, under Wills Oaken, is currently well into advanced level and has won on his last two outings. Also a full-sibling to Macgregors Cooley, who, with the same rider, is running in intermediate classes.
Lot 432 Jockeyhall Pure Quality, reg 3yo b f 16.1hh by OBOS Quality out of Carneyhaugh Andante (Laughtons Flight). This well-related individual, is out of a half-sister to Carneyhaugh Allegro (1.40m) who competed in the six-year-old finals at the RDS. Also from the immediate maternal line of Carneyhaugh Tequila Sunrise (1.40m), the event horse Carneyhaugh Conquistador (CIC3*) and the top class Nations Cup jumper Hasty Exit (1.60m), who competed with James Fisher.
Lot 439 Uilinn Dearg, reg 3yo ch f 166cms by Freeman VDL out of Annachmor Cailin (Douglas VDL). A smartly bred half-sister to the useful six-year-old Uilinn Boy (1.30m) ridden by Tim MacDonagh, while the dam is a half-sibling to Jeremiah (1.40m), the Brian Cassidy ridden Electric Impulse(1.30m) and Shannondale Strut (1.30m).
Lot 550 Ogue I’m The Boss, reg 3yo bl g 16.1hh by I’m Special de Muze out of Ogue Luil (Eurocommerce Pittsburg). Featuring Heartbreaker, Cavalier Royale and Diamond Serpent in the pedigree, this is a smartly bred youngster. His dam is a half-sister to Ballinasillogue Cavalier who represented Ireland at Le Lion d’Angers, while his second dam is a half-sibling to the Grand Prix show jumpers Alfurist (1.60m) and Kingsland Cavalier. The same damline has also produced the national eventing discovery winner Willows Ultimate and Ogue Special who competed in Dublin and won the Masterclass in Camphire.
Lot 556 Unnamed, reg 3yo b g 16.1hh by Chinook Eclipse out of OBOS Dreamer (OBOS Quality). From an exceptionally strong family, this gelding is, though his dam, related to numerous international event horses and show jumpers. His dam is a full-sister to the four-star event horses OBOS Columbus (formerly ridden by Sir Mark Todd) and the Canadian-ridden OBOS Raphael. The show jumper OBOS Special B (1.40m) is another sibling to the dam, as is the great broodmare Nancy Broone. The latter has bred no less than four international event horses including the Le Lion d’Angers representatives OBOS Take One and OBOS Impressive.
Lot 582 Kerry Golden, reg 3yo b g 165cms by I’m Special de Muze out of Golden Exchange (Cruising). Hailing from another world class pedigree, Golden Exchange jumped to 1.60m level, and was a former winner of the seven-year-olds at the RDS. She, in turn, is a full or half-sibling to an extraordinary nine international horses including the Nations Cup performer Cruise on Clover (1.60m), Cruise King, (1.40m), Ventura Cowboy (1.45m) as well as a three-parts sister to Hybernia (1.50m).
Lot 620 Ballycapple Mastercruise, reg 3yo b g 16.3hh by Ballycapple Diamond Cruise out of Ballycapple Primrose (Master Imp). By the vendor’s own Grand Prix show jumping sire, this gelding is a half-brother to the recent Camphire CCI2* winner Ballycapple Whisper (Kevin McNab). His dam meanwhile, is a sister to the Denmark-based Grand Prix show jumper Ballycapple Cadenza and to Ballycapple Heather who has over 420 SJI points.
Lot 634 The Kings Ransom, reg 3yo b g 17hh by Kings Master out of Lily Langtree (Bonnie Prince). One for the showmen, this gelding was shown on six occasions this season and always placed. He won at Marlton, was placed reserve champion at the TIH show, and was well placed at the RDSS as well as in the All Ireland championship at Bannow and Rathangan. He is a half-brother to the intermediate event horse Free Flow and a full brother to brother to Carnsdale Saville Row, champion sport horse at Aintree.
Lot 557 Unnamed, reg 3yo b f 16.1hh by OBOS Quality out of Paddys Malty (Maltsriker). A full-brother to the UK-based OBOS Quick Strike (1.30m), while the dam is a sister to KEC Pyjama Party (1.50m) and KEC Phoenix (1.35m). The second dam, Paddys Baby, competed to 1.40m under Mark O’Sullivan and is from the immediate family of Lahorna Queen (1.60m).
Lot 563 Rehy Majestic, reg 3yo b f 16.1hh by Rehy High Society out of Rehy Misty (Big Sink Hope). Carrying bloodlines going back to both Cavalier Royale and Clover Hill, this filly is a full-sister to the American-based event horse and Go For Gold graduate Rehy Forty Five and a half-sister to the British young rider team horse and medallist Rehy DJ (CCI4*).
Lot 566 Unnamed, reg 3yo b f 164cms by OBOS Quality out of Ballyquirke Brigade (Clover Brigade). A beautifully bred full-sister to the show jumper Dartans Quality Brigade (1.50m), ridden by Cathal Daniels, and a half-sibling to Ballyquirke Tip Top (1.60m).
Lot 601 Dysart Quality, reg 3yo gr f 16.1hh by OBOS Quality out of Dysart Lilly (Maltstriker). A well-related filly whose eventing half-sister Universal Cooley (Millie Dumas) was runner-up in the CCI3*S at Millstreet recently. Also, to the up and coming Dysart Elite.
Lot 617 FMSH Jane, reg 3yo b f 16.1hh by Capri Van Overis Z out of CSF Quality Choice (OBOS Quality). The dam is a sister to the Lanaken campaigner Willy Wonty (Clem McMahon) and also to the grade A White Rock Cruise (Edward Butler), former winner of the six-year-olds at the Cavan International.
Lot 669 CSF Rio, reg 3yo br g by Quintero La Silla out of CSF Telly Clover (Ars Vivendi). From a well know family, the second dam Tell Of Clover, is a former Junior European champion (1.40m). Dam is a sister to CSF Telly Cruz, who is the dam of three international show jumpers including the Joan Greene-ridden CSF Vince (1.50m), CSF Premier Cruz (1.35m), the Philip Carey-partnered youngster CSF Kancruz (1.25m) and CSF James Kann Cruise, ridden by Francis Connors.
Lot 652 Ballymurphy Hughie, reg 3yo b g 16.1hh by Pointilliste out of Ballymurphy Clover Nellie (Clover Hill). One for the traditionalists, this well-bred gelding is a half-brother to the Czech-based event horse Ballymurphy Mark and the show jumper Ballymurphy Rose (1.30m). Adding some strong depth, the dam is a sibling to four international show jumpers including Mrs Quinn and Shannondale.
Lot 737 Unnamed, reg 3yo ch g 16hh by Blueprint out of Lucky Crest (Lucky Gift). The dam is a five-star rated broodmare, and has bred Capels Hollow Drift who was the silver medallist at Lion d’Angers under British rider Tom Jackson. She has also bred the three-star event horse With Love, the show jumper Ballintesktin Lucky Girl (1.30m) and Cooley Willows Gift (CCI*).
Lot 759 Kilnamac Padraig, reg 3yo b g 16.2hh by Kannan out of Kilnamac Sue (Clover Hill). From an outstanding family, this gelding is a half-brother to the American-based event horse Electric Lux (CCI3*L) and to the four-year-old Kilnamac Croga, who sold for €45,000 to Oliver Townend at the Go For Gold Sale last year. The dam is a full-sister to the 2012 Irish Olympic event horse Electric Cruise (Joseph Murphy).
Lot 643 Omard Aria, reg 3yo b f 170cms by Barely A Moment out of Omard Skippy Lady (HHS Brother Charlton). Another from a contemporary family, this filly is a half-sister to the up and coming Omard Sansa, (Stacey Watling) who was runner-up in the five-year-olds at Balmoral 2019, was placed in the ISH classes, and qualified for the RDS in 2018. The dam is a full-sister to the British-based Dungimmon Sunrise (1.40m).
Lot 667 Unnamed, reg 3yo b f 16.1hh by Capri Van Overis Z out of Zantus (Aldatus Z). A half-sister to the exciting event horse Santiago Bay (Gemma Tattersall) who was placed seventh at Burghley last weekend, and was a winner at both Arville (CCI4*-S) and Jardy (CCI4*-S) earlier this year. Grandam is by the thoroughbred Sky Boy.
Lot 712 Max All Night Long, reg 3yo b f 16.1hh by Chacoa out of Burren (Lux Z). A half-sister to the highly rated 2018 British five-year-old event champion Max McInerney, and who is currently competing internationally at CCI2*. The dam meanwhile counts the puissance and Grand Prix show jumper Doctor Proctor (David Simpson) and also Caspian (1.40m) as full-brothers, while a half-brother is Sportsfield Fleurie (1.35m).
Lot 714 Oke Miss Tolan, reg 3yo gr f 16.2hh by Tolan R out of Oke Clover Flo (Clover Echo). The dam is a full-sister to the Swiss-ridden HHS Floyd (1.30m), while the second dam Cavalier Flown is a sibling to the event horses HHS Cooley (CCI4*), Irish Moon (CCI3*), and Sir Donovan (CCI3*).
