BARNADOWN’s Maurice Cousins likes to have a horse entered in the Goresbridge Go For Gold Sale and this year consigns Tullabeg Platinum (Lot 2) who is by Dignified van’t Zorgvliet out of a Cult Hero mare.

The winner of 43 SJI points to date, he is one of two six-year-old geldings in the catalogue, the other being Elizabeth Ahern and Felicity Ward’s traditionally-bred EPA Wildfire (Lot 1). By Carlo Bank out of a Kahtan mare, the chesnut was placed at EI90 and EI100 level this past season.

Richie O’Hara, who is the subject of Sally Parkyn’s feature this week (pages 96-97), is consigning Kilbunny Close Call (Lot 3) who has competed in unaffiliated events at Intro and Pre-Novice level. Out of the Cruising mare Emilymoran, this five-year-old is one of six horses in the sale by OBOS Quality 004.

That Oldenburg stallion is sire of two four-year-olds, Shane Donohoe and Paul McDermott’s Lissavorra Quality (Lot 13), a filly who was placed in the potential event horse championship at Dublin last year and is now jumping at 1m level, and Beechfield Stables’ Beechfields Courageous (Lot 22) who is out of a Courage half-sister to the Grade A jumper Ozy Clover.

First up of a trio of three-year-old geldings by OBOS Quality 004 is Paul Kelleher’s unnamed bay (Lot 48) out of Ballyclough Lucky Lady (by Rantis Diamond), dam previously of the High Roller mare Roll A Dice (CSI4*) and from the family of McFly (CCI5*-L).

Lot 66, who was home-bred by the Kennedy Brothers out of the Maltstriker mare KEC Malta Safari, a half-sister to KEC Alligator Alley, is bred along the same lines as OBOS O’Reilly (CCI5*-L). Co Clare owner/breeder Michael Considine is consigning Knockalough Poet (Lot 67) whose dam, the Cruising mare Thornfield Crest, is a half-sister to Hugh Knows (CCI4*-L).

The Kennedy family’s home-bred KEC Malties Trend (Lot 51) is also out of a Maltstriker mare, in this instance KEC Sunny Girl. The brown gelding is one of two horses in the sale by Future Trend, the other being Michael Moran’s Hashtag Trending (Lot 20). Out of a Silvano mare, this 2016 bay gelding competed in both the Stepping Stones League and the Young Eventhorse Series this year and has jumped up to 1.10m.

By Silvano is Killian Dunne’s Ballyoskill Brave (Lot 60) who is a three-year-old half-brother to the Grade B show jumper Ballyoskill Blaze (by Royal Concorde) while their dam Sandylane (by Aldatus Z) is a half-sister to Hallo Sportsfield (CCI4*-L).
