TWO lots stand out on their colour alone – Thomas Widger’s Grantstown Real Deal and James Foley’s Wheelagower Gold – both of whom are home-bred duns.

The four-year-old filly Grantstown Real Deal (Lot 25) is by the American thoroughbred Spirit House out of the Coevers Diamond Boy mare Granstown Diamond Lady.

Her dam is a half-sister to the Grade A jumping pony Grantstown Fear Bui (by Templebready Fear Bui) and the Grade B jumping pony Grantstown Magic (by Templebready Bo’Sun). Grantstown Real Deal has competed in unaffiliated events.

Wheelagower Gold (Lot 57) is a three-year-old gelding by the dun Irish Sport Horse stallion Tullabeg Fusion who stands at the Tullabeg Stud. Out of the traditionally-bred Don Tristan mare No Sale, Wheelagower Gold is a half-brother to the Garrison Royal gelding Bango who was fifth at this year’s Burghley International Horse Trials (CCI5*) under Tim Price.

Two other Widgers had horses selected for the sale, Robert selling Poynstown Aer J (Lot 13), a four-year-old Air Jordan Z half-brother to the 2017 Burghley young event horse five-year-old champion, Poynstown Stonehaven, while John is consigning Lot 59, an unnamed flashy three-year-old Harlequin du Carel gelding who is out of a Maltstriker mare.
