PEDIGREE, performance and potential are the fundamentals for selection for the Goresbridge Go For Gold Sale but add production, and of course numbers, to that mix then it’s easy to see why the top yards have so many horses catalogued.
While some are mentioned elsewhere, here we are particularly concerned with Higgins Sporthorses and MBF Sporthorses who, in various guises, sometimes between them and sometimes separately, have 19 entered, all of whom will be turned out to perfection over the course of the three days and know their job to perfection as well.
In the three-year-old section of the catalogue, the stand-out entry on his eventing pedigree alone is MBF Houdini Last Words (Lot 24), a bay gelding by Lagans OBOS Quality out of a traditionally-bred Crafty Call half-sister to Ballyneety Rocketman (CCI5*-L).
Among those Irish Sport Horse geldings with blacktype show jumpers close up in their pedigrees are Hugo van de Heffinck Cav Z (Lot 17), a four-year-old Vivant van de Heffinck bay out of a half-sister to Swanview Sarco Delux (1.45), and MBF Storm Mount (Lot 85), a year younger bay by Hiello out of the Romabo mare Breemount Rocket (1.40m).
There are four KWPN-registered three-year-old geldings in the combined draft including three chesnuts viz draft MBF Stardust (Lot 23), a son of Rien A Declarer MXL, MBF Shadow (Lot 35), who is by Mees vd Watermolen, and MBF Sky Jumper (Lot 53), who is by For Sure. The quartet is made up by Sirrel van de Tjongershoeve (Lot 54), a bay son of Carrera VDL.
There are no eventers or show jumpers as yet in the family of BLF Magicman MBF (Lot 60) as this three-year-old bay gelding by Madgeslane Luidam (who is mentioned elsewhere in this preview) is out of the unraced Jet Away mare BLF Indie Air, a half-sister to two winners on the track and another in point-to-points.
Rathnageera MBF Rubon (Lot 79), a bay son of Sibon W, is out of the unraced Scorpion mare Rathnageera Winnie, a half-sister to the three-time hurdle winner Goodie Girl, while MBF Stretch A Bill (Lot 82) is a chesnut gelding by Ard VDL Douglas out of the Flex A Bill mare Tullibards Cotton Jenny whose family in its further removes features such top-class racehorses as Baillamont and Le Vie Dei Colori.
For a bit of colour we should mention two three-year-old ISH fillies, Kingscross Koko (Lot 63), a dun by Tullabeg Fusion out of Kingscross Courage (by Courage II), and Killerisk MBF (Lot 65), a grey by SIEC Livello out of Billy Iscariot (by Billy Congo), who comes from the family of Park Trader (CCI5*-L).
