NEXT week’s sale wraps up a busy few weeks for the Clarke family at Cavan and, following last week’s dispersals of foals, young stock and native breeds, focuses on the older sport horse sector.

Held over two days, the catalogue of 195 lots offers the usual selection of ponies and horses, among which are a notable number of proven and potential hunters. Standing out among them is the well-known show jumper Ardragh Stein, who, under Gerard Clarke, headed a good class at the same venue only three weeks ago.

The end of season selection of ponies (63) also catches the eye, as does a high-class group of three-year-olds (44).

The stallion lists are varied, but sharing two progeny apiece are Arkan, Ars Vivendi, Billy Congo, Drumlane Warrior (CP), Lenamore Coolda Cruise, Mermus R, Sligo Candy Boy and Steady Cruise.
