WITH the autumn sales action focusing on the youngstock, and hot on the heels of the highly successful renewal of the Elite Foal Sale, Cavan stages the year’s first general foal dispersal next week.

Kicking off on Wednesday with a varied selection of stock from foals to two-year-olds, the session also incorporates the Winter Collection of pre-selected foals. Thursday meanwhile is devoted to registered Irish Draughts, among which are youngstock of all ages, as well as broodmares.

Yearlings and two-year-olds

Lot 9 Lagans Cornet Boy, reg 2 yo b g by Cornet Oblensky out of Lagans Derrylea (Luidam). A well-related gelding whose dam is a full-sister to the former Lanaken world champion and now American-based Ard Ginger Pop (1.60m) and also to the CCI2* event horse Ard Greyman Attyrory.

Lot 23 Unnamed, reg 1yo br g by Sligo Candy Boy out of Newmarket Amber (Newmarket Venture). Dam competed at 1.30 level, while the second dam was the very consistent grade A jumping mare Newmarket Clare. The latter has bred numerous graded jumpers and event horses, among which is Sportsfield Our Clare (1.45m). Extended dam’s pedigree includes the sires Cavalier Royale and Clover Hill.

Foals

Lot 25 GSA Fuerty, reg b f f by I Am-W out of Castlestrange (Hermes de Reve). This performance-bred filly is a half-sister to the highly rated event horse GSA Lance (CCI3*). Her dam Castlestrange won 33 SJI points as a five-year-old, and is a sister to Damn Smooth (1.50m) ridden by Peter Charles, as well as to Watermill Smooth (CCI2*). Grand dam by Diamond Lad jumped to Grade A.

Lot 27 Unnamed, reg b c f by Eldorado vd Zeshoek out of Chambery de la Pomme (Elvis per Tutte). Carrying a stout continental pedigree, the dam Chambery de la Pomme is a sister to numerous jumpers competing at international level, the best of which include Chatel de la Pomme (1.55m) and Kentucky de la Pomme (1.50m). This colt is a half-brother to Kilbracken Stakatto, placed sixth in the Millstreet Young Irelander this year.

Lot 38 CSF Olympic Gold, reg ch c f by Carrera Vdl out of Olympic Clover (Clover Hill). An exceptionally well-bred brother to Olympic Cruz (1.45m), the seven-year-old CSF Olympic Jewel (1.40m), CSF Olympic You Too (1.35m) and CSF Olympic Cruise, dam of CSF Olympic Lady (1.50m), CSF Valerie (1.35m) etc. Also from the immediate family of Oakfield Wild Heart (CCI3*), Clarkes Ferro (1.60m) etc.

Lot 39 Unnamed, reg b f f by Castlelawn Cobra 19 out of Castlelawn C Kan Cruise (CC Captain Cruise). From a young and progressive family, this filly is by Castlelawn Cobra 19 who is a former winner of both his qualifier and the finals of the RDS loose jumping championship. Dam, who is currently competing at 1.20m, is a sibling to four international jumpers and event horses including Captain Marko (1.50m) Junior Kannan (1.30m), Excel Star Double Clover (CCI3*) and Captain on the Move (CCCI2*).

Lot 78 CSF Chavanna, reg b f f by Chacoon Blue out of CSF Dolores (ARS Vivendi). Another from the Connolly consignment, this filly is a sibling to the promising five-year-old CSF Dano, currently based in Holland and listed for Lanaken. The second dam, CSF Doorn Cruise, has bred the event horse CSF Dassett Decoy (CCI3*-L) as well as Brockaghfield Indarco (1.20m). Adding real depth however, the third dam Udamco Ter Doorn is a sibling to a host of top performers among them is Galipolli Ter Doorn (1.60m), Ellechin Ter Doorn (1.55m) and Clonaslee (1.50m).

Lot 88 Fortune Favours the Brave, reg b f f by Imnotafraid fortuna out of Kasanta (Tyson). Attractively bred, this filly is out of a sister to the Dutch-bred Valanta (1.55m), while the second dam produced multiple 1.50m and 1.60m show jumpers and is a sister to the approved stallion Renville (1.60m).

Lot 94 Unnamed, reg b c f by Grand Cru VD Vijf Eiken out of Coevers Corrig (Coevers Diamond Boy). Featuring a dual purpose pedigree, this colt is by a 1.60m jumping sire, while the dam is a full-sister to the Boyd Martin-ridden WEG event participant Trading Aces (CCI4*).

Lot 101 Clondee Rhaenyra, reg b f f by Colandro out of Clonminch Desert Knight (Desert Knight). Carrying a good percentage of thoroughbred blood and likely to appeal to the event fraternity, this filly is a likely high level prospect. Her dam is a half-sister to British-ridden Obbie Kanoby (1.40m) while her grandam is a half-sister to Powerscourt (1.60m). Dam’s pedigree also features Ballyquirke Tip Top (1.60m) and Billy Cuckoo (CCI5*).

Lot 106 Unnamed, reg br c f by Conthargos out of Killossery Kardento (Cardento). An offering from the instantly recoginisable Killossery Kruisette (Cruising) bloodline, this beautifully related filly is out of a half-sister to a wealth of international horses, among which are the former Lanaken world champion Killossery Kaiden (1.50m). Others include Killossery Konfusion (1.60m). Killossery Kuiden (1.60m), Killossery Kuidam (1.50m), Killossery Krescendo (1.45m) and Killossery Karma who was placed fourth in Lanaken in 2021. Also to the event horse Killossery Kitten (CCI3*).

Lot 42, reg ch c f by SEIC Livello out of LSF Gifted Lady (Argentinus). Bred in the purple, the dam is a sibling to Cian O’Connor’s good mare Irish Independent Annabella (1.60m) as well as to Grace 319 (1.60m),

Lot 45 CBS Van Cornet, reg b c f by Cornets Son out of Dowdstown Larina (Lancelot). Dam Dowdstown Larina competed to 1.45m with Tim Gredley, and has bred Dowdstown Premier (1.35m) and Dowdstown Indie (1.35m) ridden by Olive Clarke.

Lot 58 Unnamed, reg ch c f by Corporal VDL out of Beachiamo (Andiamo Z). The first registered progeny out of Beachiamo, who is a full-sister to Intuitive (1.45m) ridden by Darragh Kerins, and a half-sibling to the James Hogg-partnered Always On My Mind (1.45m).

Lot 67 Cushlas Special One, reg ch f f by I’m Special de Muze out of Une Ardent de Vie (Apache D’Adriers HN). A sibling to a recent sale topping three-year-old, and also to Cushlas Hilton (1.40m).

Lot 68 Cavaliers Pleasure, reg ch f f by Another Pleasure out Donogue Cavalier Girl (Clover Hill). From an instantly recogisable Irish family, this filly is a sibling to three international horses as well as several on the national circuit. Among the most notable are the Cameron Hanely-partnered Good Lux Lucy (1.50m) and Donogue Doctor George (1.30m).

Lot 70 Unnamed, b f f by Sligo Candy Boy out of Lux A Gonner (Lux Z). An exceptionally well-bred filly who is a full-sibling to Candy Rose (1.55m), ridden in Italy by Filippo Bassan. Also a full-sister to Fortside Candy Crush (1.30m) and the smart four-year-old Fortside Obsession (Robyn Moran).

Lot 71 Unnamed, gr c f by SEIC Livello out of Miss Marley (Pacino). A sibling to the up and coming six-year-old Miss Lakiha (1.30m), Mr Rockefeller (1.55m), ridden by Vincent Byrne, and to Chief (1.50m) partnered by Ian Sillitch in America. Also from the immediate maternal line of LCC Lux Like Cavalier (1.60m).

Irish Draught stock

Lot 137 Fuerty Supremacy, reg ro c f by Moylough Supremacy out of Fuerty Misty Lady (Gortfree Lakeside Lad). One of the first stand outs on Thursday is this colt whose Class 1 dam is full-sister to the former reserve national foal champion Fuerty Failte Lad. Adding depth, the dam’s half-sister Fuerty Supreme was the highest priced filly at this sale two years ago,

Lot 164 Unnamed, reg gr f f by Hollypark Diamond out of Lackagh Windgap (Windgap Blue). A show quality foal, whose sire and dam are both rated Class 1. This foal is eligible for inspection, and has excellent potenial for the future.

Lot 165 Unnamed, reg gr f f by Windgap Reliance out of Liskillen Princess (Parnell). Dam received a highly recommended award at the Dublin Horse Show this year, while this foal was placed third. Filly has also qualified for the All-Ireland ID championship at Ballinasloe next month.

Lot 174 Unnamed, reg gr c f by Hillview farm Superstar out of Growhowdy Elizabeth (Ceide Prince). Hailing from a Class 1 rated sire and Class 1 bronze merit dam, this quality colt has won three foal championships this season. Thought to have the potential as either a stallion or performance Irish Draught.

Lot 176 Unnamed, reg gr f f by Lisatara Tom out of Cornamuckla Coleen (Agherlow). A smart filly with either performance or broodmare potential, whose sire was a former working hunter winner at the National Breed show. The dam meanwhile (also in this sale as Lot 212) bred Moylough Vision, winner of last year’s RDS working hunter four-year-old class.

Lot 183 Unnamed, reg ro c f by Dunsandle Diamond out of Lady Dolley – (Star Kingdom). A colt from a prolific show winning family, whose dam was RDS Champion as a foal. The grandam, Oh Carolena, was both National champion and RDS champion.

Lot 212 Cornamuckla Coleen, 13 yo gr m by Agherlow out of Lady Luck Charm (Crannagh Hero). Probably the pick of the broodmares and described as a rare opportunity to purchase a daughter of Agherlow, this mare produced the 2022 RDS working hunter four-year-old winner Moylough Vision. Certified in foal to Lisatara Tom, she is due to foal in May 2024.
