A NEW arrival at Bridge House Stud for 2015 is the performance stallion Caricello. Life approved by the Holsteiner Verband, he was sourced in Germany as a youngster by Knightfield owner Tom Rowland based on the Carvallo colt’s pedigree and jumping technique.

He qualified for Dublin twice en route to winning at Grand Prix level with Conor Swail at Bourg en Bresse as a seven-year-old. His son A Touch Of Caricello winning the opening six-year-old class for Eddie Moloney last August and other show jumping offspring include Cariflight, Karma K and Souri K.

According to Trevor Badger, Caricello stock are in demand by agents such as Vere Phillips and Barry O’Connor, with the latter selling several to American buyers.

Having scored a perfect 10 for his jumping ability during the Holsteiner Verband stallion inspection, Caricello’s sire Carvallo, is by the Dutch dual Olympic horse, Carthago Z. Caricello’s dam sire Lord was another star in Holsteiner history and also brings the important Ladykiller line to the bloodline.

RIVERLAND ROI

Riverland Roi, now competing on the HSI/Red Mills Spring Tour circuit with young rider Conan Wright, is a tall, athletic stallion with super balance and temperament.

A precocious performer who competed on the Sunshine Tour as a seven-year-old, his first crop included Moon River who was fourth in the national championships at Cavan and sold to Norway where she is now jumping successfully at 1.40m.

Amongst his eventing progeny is Bridgehousestud River Wild, who recorded seven top-three places at up to two-star level last year, including third at Camphire International. Other well regarded eventing progeny include Lakeland Dancer and Glendhu. All his progeny to date are bay, dark bay or brown and his show ring winners include the O’Mahony family’s champion Riverland Ruby.

By the French National Stud sire, Fakir de Kreisker, Riverland Roi’s pedigree includes the great Galoubet A, who has proven compatible with Irish bloodlines. James Kernan’s Barcelona Olympics horse, Touchdown, has since produced Liscalgot, partnered by 2002 world champion Dermott Lennon and last year’s Badminton winner Paulank Brockagh. Riverland Roi’s Galoubet A dam Jeerling de Riverland is a full-sister to the four-star event mare, Hethi Bey.

SIRILLIO

Sirillio was presented at the 2010 Horse Sport Ireland stallion inspections, where he was described as an attractive, well-proportioned type with an excellent attitude, technique and scope during the jumping phase. The wait is nearly over with Sirillio’s first Irish-born crop of four-year-olds due on the circuit this year. His overseas crops include one competing in young event horse classes in Germany for his great supporter Professor Gerhard Sybrecht and the licensed stallion son Brookhurst Sirdallio in England.

Sirillio has a number of thoroughbred icons in his family tree, beginning with Mill Reef, also seen in Ghareeb’s pedigree. Sicambre, founder of the Sacramento Song dynasty that includes Sandro Boy and Shutterfly, Raise A Native, Fair Trial and Tourbillon are also present.
