HORSEMAN ELITE

AUCTION BELGIUM

BELGIUM is known as the world’s leading producer of outstanding show jumping horses and the upcoming Horseman Elite Auction on Saturday, September 9th next offers people the chance to invest in the stars of tomorrow.

Powered by Flanders Mare Auction and Auction Antwerp, the unique action will take place in Lier’s brilliant Azelhof stadium. It’s the only auction in Belgium which offers potential buyers a mix of foals, embryos, breeding dams and promising three-year-old showjumping horses.

The auction offers two embryos, 22 foals, five three-year-old showjumpers and 16 breeding dams. Auction spokesperson Jo De Roo said: “In general, some lines produce better showjumpers of sports horses than other lines. The presented embryos, foals, dams and youngsters all belong to proven dam lines. That’s the leading thread running through the Horseman Elite Auction. Combining proven dam lines with promising young stallions or progenitors is one of the keys of success of the Belgian breeding industry of excellent showjumpers.”

In the most recent WBFSH rankings for showjumping horses, Cornet Obolensky (ex-Windows van het Costersveld) is ranked third. Thierry Degraeve, the breeder of Cornet, will sell his last breeding dam during the September 9th auction. Other breeding diamonds include Rose DW, crossing Bamako de Muze (by Darco) with a half-sister to Sanctos van het Gravenhof resulted in Scott Brash’s brilliant show jumper Hello Sanctos, a son of Quasimodo van de Molendreef.

Another foal, Rembrandt van de Pikkerie, is sired by Diamant de Semilly, leading the latest WBFSH sire rankings. Rembrandt’s grandmother Iberia II produced several international showjumpers, amongst them Nicholas Dello Joio’s five-star horse Pistoya, Nabucco and Tiamo Massuère. Moreover, Iberia II’s dam Estrella Del Dia was a successful showjumper and dam, producing several approved stallions and international performers, such as Nervoso, Ucello and Valentino Massuère.

Embryos have to be something real special and at Horseman Elite Auction, there is the chance to buy two rare pearls.

One of them is by the Olympic stallion Emerald van’t Ruytershof out of Kismet 50 (ex-Benedicte). In partnership with Candice King and Meredith Michaels Beerbaum, Kismet won many top Grand Prix, Nations’ Cups and World Cup classes. Kismet’s dam, Famosa Z (by Furioso II), produced some more international showjumpers, including Cian O’Connor’s five-star stallion Good Luck, Audrey’s Geiser’s 1.60m horse Holiday and Vangelo des Hazalles, who jumped at international two-star level.

Amongst the promising youngsters on offer is five three-year-olds, including Optimist van de Klothoef. His sire, the seven-year-old Kaiser van het Lambroeck, is enjoying international wins and top placings for young horses, with Cassio Rivetti. Optimist’s dam Wanita produced several successful international showjumpers, amongst them the five-star show jumper Cherbourg and Galant van de Klothoef.
