TATTERSALLS recently revealed an increased number of horses for their flagship Book 1 Sale and this week continued the trend with 812 lots in the Book 2 Sale, up from 773 lots 12 months ago.

Last year’s stellar trade, driven by the likes of Amo Racing, is the assumed influence behind both increases, but the sales company can also be confident following a successful season for graduates.

When landing the Prince Of Wales’s Stakes in fine style, Ombudsman joined an honour roll featuring Believing, Dubai Honour and Romantic Warrior.

The current crop of juveniles has also made a fine impression, with the 2024 graduates led by unbeaten dual Group 2 winner Zavateri and six-length Tyros Stakes victor North Coast.

This year’s catalogue features an impressive 206 siblings of group and listed winners, including Group 1 winners A Case Of You, Accidental Agent, Dream Of Dreams, No Half Measures, Place Du Carrousel, Zaaki and Time Warp.

The dams featured are just as accomplished, with Group 1 heroines Chachamaidee, Shalanaya, Seal Of Approval and Star Of Seville among them.

All the leading sires are represented, with Havana Grey topping numbers with 41 yearlings catalogued, followed by Blue Point with 36 and Mehmas with 33.

The sire index also features Lope De Vega, New Bay, Night Of Thunder, No Nay Never, Sea The Stars, Too Darn Hot and Wootton Bassett, as well as first crop sires Baaeed, Bayside Boy, Blackbeard, Epicenter, Golden Pal, Minzaal, Naval Crown, Perfect Power, State Of Rest, Stradivarius and Thunder Moon.

Book 3 of the 2025 Tattersalls October Yearling Sale has been trimmed slightly this year with 558 lots catalogued, compared to 571 in 2024, which was a significant drop from 649 in 2023.

All yearlings catalogued in both Book 2 and Book 3 of the October Yearling Sale are eligible for the £200,000 Tattersalls October Auction Stakes and the £200,000 Tattersalls Somerville Auction Stakes run at Newmarket’s Rowley Mile and July course respectively, which both received a significant prize money boost in 2025.

Book 2 will take place from Monday, October 13th to Wednesday, October 15th, followed by Book 3 on Thursday, October 16th to Friday October, 17th. The catalogues can be viewed online at www.tattersalls.com
