Captain Guinness: Looked as good as ever when winning on his return in the Fortria Chase last month and sets the standard on official ratings. Concern is that he arrives here with an 0-11 record in Grade 1s, though this doesn’t look the deepest of top-level contests.

Dysart Dynamo: Impressive beginners’ chase winner here last Christmas but no luck over fences since. Useful on his day but disappointing he couldn’t offer more last time when beaten 11 and a half lengths by Captain Guinness at Navan.

Gentleman De Mee: Too hot to handle for stablemate Blue Lord in Grade 1 here at last season’s Dublin Racing Festival but couldn’t uphold that form when last seen finishing a 10-length fourth at the Punchestown Festival behind Energumene. Has tended to improve from his first run of the season so worth a market check here.

Saint Roi: Has a bit to find on ratings, and on the basis of his reappearance in the Fortria. Main encouragement is the fact that his sole Grade 1 win came over this course and distance last Christmas.

Dinoblue: Improving mare bids for fourth win on the bounce and is clearly on the up. Form of her Grade 3 win on Naas comeback was done no harm by runner-up Fil Dor filling the same spot behind El Fabiolo in the Hilly Way. Officially 7lb behind Captain Guinness but is progressive. One of four in the race for Willie Mullins and three for J.P. McManus.
