1:20 Irish EBF Median Sires Series Race 5f 205y

Ger Lyons’s newcomer Geocentric might be the answer to this opener. A son of Kodiac, this colt is related to three winners who all finished in the first two on their debuts and it’s likely he’ll be well prepared for such a valuable contest first time up. The exact same connections took a similarly valuable contest at the Curragh last month with Dr Zempf, by the same sire.

Hadman finished third to Dr Zempf that day and has since won at Gowran Park. He deserves respect but must concede weight to all. Mary Pickersgill might be a better option, having performed with credit over this course and distance first time up, and her trainer Fozzy Stack has done notably well with juveniles by her sire Starspangledbanner this season.

SELECTION: GEOCENTRIC

Next best: Mary Pickersgill

Darkdeserthighway looks sure to go well again back at this course and distance after his win here last month but Fine Distraction, drawn beside him, could be a better option. Darren Bunyan’s three-year-old has hit the frame on three of his previous four starts and given he was second in a good nursery over this course and distance last season, when racing off a mark of 70, he makes plenty of appeal now racing off 63.

Pretty Smart is another who has been going well having finished less than two lengths away from the winner on his previous three starts. He is likely to put up a good show again.

SELECTION: FINE DISTRACTION

2:30 Irish Stallion Farms EBF Fillies & Mares Handicap 5f 205y

Deidra could be worth taking in this competitive handicap. She ran with real credit when a 50/1 fourth to Sindhia in a good fillies’ handicap at the Curragh last Saturday, drifting off a straight line in the last furlong when she got tired. That makes here interesting now dropping a furlong back in trip and on just her third start for Dermot Weld. She was a decent two-year-old, achieving a rating of 91, and may be able to get back to that standard with a win today off 81.

Affable runs here quickly after winning at Roscommon – carries a 6lb penalty – and she could be a threat, but perhaps not as much as Misterio. She was a comfortable winner over this course and distance last time and though up 11lbs, she could progress again.

SELECTION: DEIDRA

Next best: Misterio

3:05 Irish Stallion Farms EBF Maiden 7f

Anchorage could make a winning start for Aidan O’Brien. A Galileo colt out of a half-sister to five blacktype performers, he may be able to defy his inexperience in what may not be the strongest maiden run at this track.

Unconquerable has the best form of those who have run and it will be worth noting how Hadman gets on earlier on the card considering he just held him off at Gowran Park last time. The Ger Lyons-trained newcomer is also intriguing as a son of American sire Kantharos, a speedy juvenile who has produced some serious sprinters, not least World Of Trouble and X Y Jet.

SELECTION: ANCHORAGE

Next best: Trent

3:40 Naas Nursery Of Champions Race 7f

Acanella makes the most appeal. Ger Lyons’s daughter of Dansili won nicely on her debut at Leopardstown before running eighth in the second 1,000 Guineas trial at Leopardstown. She wasn’t disgraced at all on that occasion and maybe the move back to seven furlongs now will suit her. She also wears a first-time tongue tie.

Metaphorical makes most appeal of her opponents. He progressed from his seasonal-debut third at Gowran Park to beat Emporio at Listowel, with that runner winning since. He has it to do off his current rating of 84 but may well progress further today. The Blue Panther shouldn’t be discounted either after his seven-length win at Sligo.

SELECTION: ACANELLA

Next best: Metaphorical

4:15 Naas Racecourse Business Club Handicap 1m 2f

Ger Lyons’s Zola Sakura makes plenty of appeal in what doesn’t look the strongest handicap. She progressed from a good seasonal-debut effort to finish fourth to Grid at Cork to win at Gowran Park. She is 6lbs higher now but has only had four runs and has plenty of scope to progress again, in contrast to many of her rivals today.

Easily hasn’t pulled up any trees on her three starts yet, hence she can run off a mark of 69 on her handicap debut today so will be dangerous if finding any sort of improvement given she is a daughter of Galileo.

Prince Of Verona probably ran his best race yet for Denis Hogan when fourth at Gowran Park last time. A well-bred son of American Pharoah, he has a bit of scope off his mark of 72 now.

SELECTION: ZOLA SAKURA

Next best: Easily

4:50 Naas Racecourse Handicap 1m 2f

It might be worth taking a chance on Chacha Dancer. She hasn’t shown much so far but caught the eye at Ballinrobe last time when hampered at the start and then out of position for most of her race on that tight track, before running on late. Her earlier maiden form isn’t bad at all so she’s given a tentative vote.

There are any amount in with a chance and Classical Memories is one of them. Jarlath Fahey’s filly ran easily her best race so far when third to Aurora Princess at Gowran Park and she has scope to improve further today.

SELECTION: CHACHA DANCER

Next best: Aurora Princess
