Rocket Spirit had shown precious little prior to finishing second at this track on his latest start. Despite being sent off at 200/1, the four-year-old kept on strongly and would have been closer had he not met trouble in running after the last.

A reproduction of that effort would almost certainly be good enough to go one better.

Summer Gale makes his return to National Hunt racing having been campaigned on the flat at the end of last year. Despite his lack of jumping experience, the Jessica Harrington-trained gelding looks one of the main dangers.

Chief’s Kingdom can make the breakthrough here having just been denied in a similar race at Killarney last month. The Soldier Of Fortune gelding, who had also shaped well in stronger company on his two previous runs, will appreciate this easier task.

Men Of Dreams made a very encouraging hurdling debut when third at this track back in April but failed to build on that run at Ballinrobe last time.

Although the five-year-old has to prove his stamina over this longer trip, he is one of few in the race that could be given a serious chance.

The Short Go could just prove to be a cut above the standard required at this time of year. The Henry De Bromhead-trained gelding ran well in some decent maidens last season, before getting off the mark when making all at Killarney last month. His prominent racing style should be ideal around a sharp track such as this.

What Path impressed when winning a Galway bumper last July and something was clearly amiss when he was pulled up next time. Normal service was resumed at Tipperary last month when the gelding made a winning debut over hurdles. Having proven that he stays three miles, the Willie Mullins-trained runner has to be a big player.

Flemensreva can complete a double for trainer, Paul Nolan. The lightly-raced mare ran her best race to date last time, when keeping on well to finish second over course and distance. Since being fitted with cheekpieces on her penultimate start, the daughter of Flemensfirth has shown marked improvement in form. It has to be significant that the headgear is retained.

A Dublin Job would have been placed but for falling at the last flight at Downpatrick last time. The Ciaran Murphy-trained six-year-old has been very consistent at this distance so will appreciate the stamina test.

Princess Sophia has been raised 7lbs for making a winning stable debut at Punchestown but could still have something in hand.

The Ciaran Murphy-trained mare, who made all on that occasion, looks poised to adopt similar tactics here. The fitting of a hood seems to have brought about significant improvement in the daughter of Elusive Pimpernel.

Grand Cru Chatho looks a threat having caught the eye staying on late at Tipperary last time. The form of that race received a timely boost during the week when the horse who finished a place in front of him won at Wexford.

Changing The Rules can continue the excellent recent run of the Jessica Harrington stable. The six-year-old was a smart handicap hurdler last term but failed to win despite showing promise on a few occasions. Having had three runs over fences, he should know his job better than most and arguably has a class edge in this company.

Takarengo isn’t the easiest to win with but is a decent horse on his day. The Tom Mullins-trained gelding made a satisfactory chasing debut when runner-up at Clonmel in April.

Priory Park should be capable of taking advantage of his slightly lower chase mark over what looks his optimum distance.

The Edward O’Grady-trained gelding won twice over 2m4f in handicap hurdles before initially racing over the minimum trip once switched to fences. After a very promising second at Fairyhouse in February, he may not have stayed when stepped up at Navan after.

Call The Tune has a long absence to overcome but would be a threat to all if at full fitness. The Barry Connell-trained gelding remains a lightly-raced horse with the potential to do even better over fences.

Ninth Loch made a very promising racecourse debut when staying on nicely to finish fourth in a big field at the Punchestown Festival. With that experience behind him, the Willie Mullins-trained four-year-old should take plenty of beating.

Kalanisi Flash won two point-to-points before running very well in a strong bumper at Leopardstown over Christmas. He should be all the sharper for his recent return to action at Downpatrick.
