At that point he began to shift both left and right and looked rather green. His jockey Joseph O’Brien put his whip down and this seemed to balance the horse as he was picking up again close home.

Trainer Aidan O’Brien said after the race he felt he may have left War Envoy a bit short of work. So that adds to the idea he’ll improve on this in the Coventry.

The winner Kool Company (35) is now unbeaten in three starts but I think this is as good as he is. The runner-up Toscanini (35) is clearly useful too, having run third to the very smart Cappella Sansevero following a slow start first time out. He only lost this on a head bob and is bred to stay a good deal longer.
