-Cailin Cliste

(K.J. Condon)

Naas April 26th

Contarelli Chapel deservedly took the plaudits for her impressive debut success at Naas just before Punchestown but Cailin Cliste showed plenty in the same race.

She looked likely to play a leading role heading into the last couple of furlongs before dropping back to fourth but this still represented a heartening start to her career.

Merry Poppins

(J. Motherway)

Punchestown May 1st

On her third handicap outing, this four-year-old ran a fine race to be beaten just half a length by the English raider Pure Bliss in a mares’ handicap hurdle.

After just five career outings she can surely progress further and she mightn’t be long in adding to the maiden success she recorded on her debut last August.

Camphor

(Mrs J. Harrington)

Sligo May 2th

This useful five-year-old faced a stiff enough task off top weight in the featured fillies’ handicap last Sunday and for much of the race she seemed to be struggling towards the rear of the field.

However, she put in some good late work to be beaten less than two lengths into fourth and this effort bodes well for her prospects during the summer.

New Emerald Bay

(J.P. Murtagh)

Curragh May 3rd

She was making her first appearance since October when finishing sixth in a useful fillies’ handicap won by Pale Iris on Monday. She was going as well as anything entering the last quarter of a mile before her lack of a recent run told against her but she shaped nicely and appeals as being able to progress well off this effort.

Texas Rock

(M.C. Grassick)

Curragh May 3rd

This former dual listed winner was making his third appearance of the season when finishing eighth to Pretty Rebel in a sprint handicap on Monday.

He was beaten just over five lengths at the finish but shaped better than his final position and this effort suggested his turn may not be all that far away.

Stag Night

(W. McCreery)

Gowran Park May 4th

This newcomer was beaten just under two and a half lengths into third by Bellagio Man in a median auction maiden. He was noted putting in some good work in the closing stages and a similar contest can fall his way before too long.

Indian Sioux

(P.T. Foley)

Gowran Park May 4th

She went off a big price - 28/1 - for her handicap debut on Tuesday and ran a fine race to chase home the improving Pineapple Express. She showed plenty of promise in a couple of maiden runs at Gowran Park last year and this comeback effort suggested that she can make her mark in a handicap at some point this season.

Lusaka

(J.J. Murphy)

Gowran Park May 5th

He showed ability in both his runs as a juvenile and his comeback fourth in a mile maiden won by the smart Agrimony bodes well for his prospects this year.

He will surely improve for his first run since November and a maiden success might well be within his reach this year.

Aubretia

(C.A. Murphy)

Tipperary May 6th

This filly showed up well to finish second to Kapard in a Roscommon maiden last autumn and posted a respectable effort on her first run since then to finish fourth in a maiden hurdle won by Gypsy Island.

She is certainly good enough to pick up a mares’ maiden hurdle at some point this summer.

Kilbarry Chloe

(C. O’Keeffe)

Tipperary May 6th

A four-year-old daughter of Mahler, she was the subject of notable support before her debut in the mares’ point-to-point bumper and she ran a race full of promise to be beaten just a length into third.

If connections opt to keep her going over the coming weeks and months she will not be long in making her mark.
