Kayf Tara - Special Choice

Mrs S. Rowley-Williams

He looks great after a good break. He is back in around a month and he is just cantering away. I’d like to get him back for something like the Fortria at Navan and then we’ll go for the Tingle Creek. It is early days yet but he looks super and I couldn’t be happier with him.

He had a very good break and he looks super. There is a second season novice chase for him at Naas in October that I am looking at for him. He was very good last season and I am hoping that there might be more to come from him.

He was very good at Galway and it was great to see him win a big race like that. He jumped fantasticly at Galway and he appreciated the bit of nice ground that day. He’ll have a break over the winter but I might keep him on the go up to Christmas time. He’ll go to Gowran next month and we’ll see how that goes before we decide on future plans for him.

The plan is that he’ll go novice chasing. Like the rest of the horses, he has done very well over the summer and he looks great. He was very good to us last season and hopefully he’ll develop into a good novice chaser - he has the scope to do well over fences. Anywhere from two to two and half miles should be fine for him.

Brian Boru - Satellite Dancer

Gigginstown House Stud

He looks great and has gotten bigger and stronger over the summer and he’ll be going novice chasing. He will be a three-mile horse, but we’ll look for a beginners’ chase towards the end of October over two and a half miles and hopefully he’ll do well for us over fences. He is bred to be a chaser and he is cantering away and I am very happy with him.

LIEUTENANT COLONEL

Kayf Tara - Agnese

Gigginstown House Stud

He was very good to us last season and he is another that will be going novice chasing. He looks fantastic after a really good break and he is another that will start off in a beginners’ chase towards the end of October. Like Sub Lieutenant, he is a three-miler, but we’ll get him going over two and a half. He has really thrived over the summer.

He looks great and is back cantering away. His long term aim will be the Aintree National and he’ll have a prep run somewhere, maybe over hurdles, before he runs in the Becher Chase at Aintree later this year.

Hopefully he’ll take to the fences over there and if he does, he could go back over hurdles, before he goes for something like the Bobbyjo early next year. He has come back in looking great and I’d imagine that he will be ready to start off late October/early November time.

Sholokhov - Depeche Toi

Gigginstown House Stud

He looks great and is back cantering away. We had a great season with him last year and the plan is that we’ll get him started in a Grade 3 at Punchestown next month with a view to aiming him at either the Grade 1 in Down Royal or the King George. He looks a stronger horse and he has filled out a good bit and I couldn’t be happier with him. All those good races are there for him next spring.

Nothing has been decided yet but I’d imagine that he will be going novice chasing. I’d imagine that he will be a two and a half mile plus horse over fences and he has done really well - he has filled out and he looks great. It will be the end of November when we get him going and all is good with him.

NO MORE HEROES

Presenting - What A Breeze

Gigginstown House Stud

He is another that has really thrived for his break. He has come back in looking much stronger and we are looking forward to getting him going over fences.

He is bred to be a chaser but we are no rush with him and it might the end of November when we start him off. With a bit of luck, he should do well over fences and if he takes to them, all those good staying novice chases are there for him over the winter.

TIM DOYLE

MALLOWNEY

Oscar - Silkaway

Glebeland Farm Partnership

He looks great and he had a good break over the summer and he appears to have gotten much stronger. He is cantering away and we are in no rush with him.

There is a race for him at Naas and there is also the Fortria at Navan a week after that. If he doesn’t make either of those races, there is the Hilly Way at Cork.

He hasn’t done any fast work yet, but as I said we are in no rush with him and he’ll tell us when he is ready to start off. Hopefully he’ll have a good season.

J.P. McManus

He is a handsome boy anyway but he has really furnished for his summer break and he looks super. We will look at stretching him out a bit this season and I’d say three miles should be fine for him. The Durkan might be a race that he could start off in, with a view to aiming him at something like the Lexus at Christmas time. The Hennessy at Leopardstown is there for him and what he wants is real winter ground.

Gamut - Bellora

Gigginstown House Stud

He has done very well over the summer and he looks great. I haven’t discussed plans yet with Eddie or Michael yet, but I’d imagine the Grade 1 in Down Royal might be where he’ll start off. He was in for a long time last season and while he had a few breaks between his races, he was due a good bit of time off. He is cantering away and all looks good with him.

APACHE STRONGHOLD

Mrs Patricia Hunt

He looks great and is cantering away. I’d say he’ll go to Down Royal for the second season novice chase and all those good races are there for him over the winter. He has filled out a good bit and he looks great and hopefully he’ll have a good season.

WOUNDED WARRIOR

Shantou - Sparkling Sword

Gigginstown House Stud

He is a very tall horse and as he is a bit younger than the other two, he looks to have done extremely well over the summer. He is really starting to fill out his frame and he looks great. The break has really done him the power of good. I haven’t spoken to Eddie or Michael about him yet so I am not sure where or when he’ll start off but I am delighted with him.

MOUSE MORRIS

Saddler Maker - Omega Des Obeaux

Gigginstown House Stud

He looks very well and he has come back in looking much stronger after a good break. He is cantering away and the plan is that he’ll go novice chasing. He is a good six weeks or more off a run but I have been very happy with him and I’d like to think that he could well develop into a nice horse for those staying novice chases. BAILY GREEN

R.A. Scott

He has been a great servant and he’ll go for the Becher Chase at Aintree later on this year and my long term plan for him is the Aintree National. He’ll be kept on the go for the winter, but he jumps super and we’ll see how he gets on in the Becher Chase but if he took to the fences, he could be an ideal type for Aintree.

Mags [Mullins] is very happy with him and he has had a good break. He is pretty well developed as it is but he looks great. We had thought about going novice chasing with him, but at the minute, I’d say that he’ll have another season over hurdles. The Hattons Grace is there for him but he might not start off until the Grade 1 three mile hurdle at Christmas time. Long-term, those good staying hurdles in the spring are what we are looking at for him.

He has had a good break and he looks super and Ted is happy with him. He will have a prep run over hurdles before he goes for the Durkan Chase at Punchestown. The Lexus and the Hennessy are there for him and hopefully he’ll go for all those good three mile chases from Christmas on.
