California Poppy (E. Lynam)

Dundalk, April 9th

This daughter of Starspangledbanner shaped up nicely on her racecourse debut last weekend when she finished fourth in a seven-furlong maiden won by Ozymandis. She finished nicely to lie just outside the placings and with normal improvement a maiden can come her way.

Corps De Pages (P. Twomey)

Leopardstown, April 11th

From a family littered with high-class runners, this Frankel colt made a pleasing start to his career to finish third to O’Reilly in a mile maiden. He can certainly build on this effort and should take beating wherever he turns out next.

Bear Story (M. Halford)

Leopardstown, April 11th

The three-year-old handicap won by Sir Lamorak looked a decent affair and this Dundalk maiden winner shaped up well to chase home his aforementioned rival who was raised to a mark of 101 following this effort. There could be a nice handicap to be won with him at some point this season.

Top Dog (C.A. Murphy)

Fairyhouse, April 13th

He was well-backed prior to his debut in the auction bumper at Fairyhouse on Tuesday and ran a fine race to be beaten by half a length into second after being collared by the impressive Mary’s Pride in the final yards. A bumper success is well within his reach.

Climate (Mrs J. Harrington)

Leopardstown, April 14th

This half-sister to Power and Curvy chased home a smart sort in Acanella on her debut on Wednesday. She won’t have any trouble making her mark in a maiden and can go on to hold her own in better company in due course.
