IT proved a profitable week for Irish raiders at Perth as they came away with a double last Monday and added another four winners on Tuesday.

Gordon Elliott notched up four winners in total beginning with the Martin Wasylocha-owned High Expectations who landed the juvenile hurdle by two and a quarter lengths at 7/1 with Tom O’Brien in the saddle. Elliott went on to complete a treble on Tuesday evening.

Richard Johnson partnered the 8/15 favourite Taglietelle to an easy victory in the opening novices hurdle in the colours of the Olduvai Syndicate.

SECOND LEG

I C Gold was the second leg of the treble in winning the handicap hurdle with Johnson again in the saddle. At odds of 10/11 the Sean Gallagher-owned mare was a two-length winner.

The treble was completed in the amateur riders’ handicap hurdle when the champion point-to-point rider Jamie Codd teamed up with Balbriggan, making it two wins from three starts since he joined the Elliott team. The gelding carried the colours of Lee Power and William McKay and was the well supported favourite at 8/11 for his four and a half length win.

Other Irish winners came courtesy of Ultra Light (7/2), trained by Robbie Hennessy for his father Bill, who won the hunters chase over three miles on the Monday by three lengths.

John McConnell who sells his impressive Galway winner Clonard Street today, enjoyed Scottish success on Tuesday with the Any News Syndicate’s Blue Ridge Lane who ran out an easy winner of the handicap hurdle at 15/8 favourite under Mark Bolger.
