TOP hunter chaser On The Fringe is the star name at Down Royal on St Stephen’s Day, though Enda Bolger’s nine-year-old will be tested when he takes on 15 others in the Silks at Down Royal Hunter Chase.

On The Fringe and Nina Carberry ran out smooth three-length winners of this race a year ago, launching a campaign which saw them go on to finish third at the Cheltenham Festival and win at Punchestown.

The likely favourite must concede weight all around at Down Royal where the opposition includes prolific pointer Oscar Barton, former racecourse star Luska Lad and talented chaser Sole Witness.

Elsewhere on the card the Gigginstown House Stud-owned Empire Of Dirt and Delegate look likely winners.

The ground at Down Royal was described as soft at declaration time.
