In the opening 12.2hh race, Newmarket, Co Cork rider Jerry Daly junior partnered remarkable veteran Tail To Tail to victory for his first win in open class.

It was a proud day for his parents Jerry and Aileen who give so much to pony racing as officials, race-hosts and through their involvement in the Three County Syndicate as Jerry junior took control from half way and then held off a renewed challenge from early leader Here Comes The Pain in the last 100 yards for a hugely popular win.

The concluding second division of the maiden almost saw brother Ben register his first open win as he partnered Eurostar whose late run was good enough to beat all their rivals except the Benjy Riordan-owned Mr Bush.

This was a first winner for 14-year-old Conor McNamara, son of well-known trainer Eric and brother of former champion pony race rider Emmet.

Denis Linehan took the overall riding honours as he shared a double with the Dunmanway-based Castle Racing Syndicate as Pablo Escobar won the 10-furlong race and Squeeze Your Knees collected in the 12-furlong contest.

Linehan employed similar tactics on both, taking his time early as the leaders set a searching pace before coming through smoothly to win impressively.

Jack Kennedy had to settle for one winner, but it was the big one of the day as he landed the two-mile Cahersiveen Derby on Follow Jack for the Three County Syndicate.

Lady Zena set a strong early pace while Kennedy sat at the back of the field. From five furlongs out he made eye-catching progress that saw him lead just before the furlong marker with Lady Zena finishing second.

Waterford rider Jerome Power celebrated his birthday in the best possible manner as he won the 14.2hh race on Level Headed for the Tyner Syndicate.

Always prominent, the winner and Darragh’s Delight had it between them for the final five furlongs before Power drove him clear for a two-length win.

The first division of the maiden race went to the Cian Collins-ridden Just Like That who came through from off the pace to lead two furlongs out for a snug win for Knocknagoshel, Co Kerry-based Mikey Mangan.

Marie Moloney registered her second winner as she partnered On The Edge to take the 15hh race. Leading from a mile out, the winner stayed on strongly to win from English Bill.

Mikey Sheehy continued his dominance of the 13.2hh races as Another Nun yet again proved too strong for her rivals. Rory King on Dolly tried to make it a test of stamina but they could never shake off Pat Collins’ mare who took control over the final two furlongs.

The local horse race for the Martin Cournane Cup went to the Mary McGillycuddy-owned Close Encounter on whom Killian Leonard made all to beat stable-mate The Red Messenger.
