LAH TI DAR, who was the general 2/1 favourite for the Investec Oaks, has been ruled out of the race.

John Gosden reported the filly had an “unsatisfactory blood test” and therefore couldn’t work this weekend. The news prompted a major shake up in the betting market and Charlie Appleby’s Wild Illusion is the new favourite.

The six-day confirmation stage for the Oaks takes place today after 21 fillies were left in the classic at the scratchings deadline yesterday week.

Earlier in the week there was support in the market for Aidan O’Brien’s Magical, who is a sister to last year’s runner-up Rhododendron. O’Brien looks set to also be represented by Cheshire Oaks one-two, Magic Wand and Forever Together, and Blue Wind Stakes winner Bye Bye Baby.

Wild Illusion will be bidding to give Appleby a breakthrough classic win (if he doesn’t do so at the Curragh this weekend). The Godolphin filly, a daughter of Dubawi, finished a promising fourth behind Billesdon Brook in the 1000 Guineas at Newmarket.

Appleby commented this week: “I was delighted with her run at Newmarket. We are very confident that the step up in trip will be to her advantage.”

William Haggas, successful in 2011 with Dancing Rain, is double-handed in his bid to win a second Oaks. The Yorkshire trainer has Musidora winner Give And Take and Sea Of Class, who impressed many when winning a listed race at Newbury last Saturday.
