WILLIE Mullins is set to run both Al Boum Photo and Kemboy against each other in the Punchestown Gold Cup next month.

Rated 175 after his win in the Cheltenham Gold Cup, Al Boum Photo is the highest-rated chaser in Ireland, however Kemboy is just 1lb below him following his seriously impressive display in the Aintree Bowl.

Mullins said: “All being well, both will pitch up at Punchestown, which is always a very important meeting for us.

“Al Boum Photo is in great shape after Cheltenham and this is certainly his prime target now. We were very pleased with Kemboy at Aintree last week and he looks fit and well since he came back from there so we’ll take our chance.”

Mullins has eight entries in total which also include last year’s winner Bellshill and Footpad. Also on target for the €300,000 contest is Monalee, who finished a respectable fourth in the Ryanair Chase but wasn’t at his best according to Henry de Bromhead.

“Monalee came back sore from Cheltenham. He is in good form now but I just don’t think he ran his race there,” De Bromhead said.

“I think his best runs have been over three miles and he has got some very good form in the book, including finishing in front of Al Boum Photo a couple of times. We are looking forward to the race.”

The main event on the first day of the meeting is the BoyleSports Champion Chase and Mullins has another formidable hand. Last year’s winner Un De Sceaux is among six entries for the champion trainer which also include Douvan.

“Douvan started his fast work this week and then we’ll see how he progresses between now and Punchestown but it would be nice to get him back there,” Mullins said.

Impressive Aintree winners Min and Cadmium, who also won at this festival last season, could also take their chance.

The Herald Champion Novice Hurdle is the opening Grade 1 of the week and could see Supreme Novice Hurdle winner Klassical Dream attempt to secure a hat-trick of Grade 1 wins. Cheltenham Festival winners A Plus Tard, Defi Du Seuil and Any Second Now are among 23 entries for the Dooley Insurance Champion Novice Chase (three miles).

De Bromhead also confirmed Cheltenham winner Minella Indo on target for the Grade 1 Irish Daily Mirror Novice Hurdle (three miles, on the second day). He could take on both Commander Of Fleet and Allaho, who were second and third to him in the Albert Bartlett Novice Hurdle.
