CASTLEFINN–

NORTHERN REGION

CASTLEFINN in Donegal was the venue for last Sunday’s Northern Region card where Rossa Ryan added another four winners to the four he rode at Lisdoonvarna to bring his tally to eight for the weekend. It also proved a bonanza for Adrian Browne as the Letterkenny-based handler saddled the winner of five of the six races.

With the conditions of the non-winners race being for horses who had not won this season in the Northern Region, Never Say Never was long odds-on to add to his Dingle win, and he duly obliged for Dingle restauranteur Gary O’Boyle. Rossa then took the 15hh race on the outsider of Adrian Browne’s pair as Dodge The Bullet foiled a brave front-running effort from the Pat Taaffe-ridden Angel Eyes, with Dylan Browne-McMonagle taking a fall from Adrian’s more fancied runner, The Wagin Wheel after a slipped saddle. Let Him Go showed no signs of fatigue following his recent trip to Kerry where he regained his Glenbeigh Invitation crown as he took the 12-furlong race.

Let Us Go completed Rossa’s four-timer as he reverted back to a mile winning comfortably from Drama Queen.

Adrian completed his five-timer in the two-mile race as Dylan Browne-McMonagle, showing no ill-effects from his earlier fall, delivered his Dingle Derby winning partner Let’s Go with a late run to win in a thrilling finish from Rossa Ryan on Let Me Go with the Pat Taaffe-ridden Where’s Johnny claiming third spot. The maiden was the only event to elude the powerful Browne yard and Luke McAteer landed this for local owner Andy Scott on Tinkerbell as the held off the challenge of the Mark Crehan ridden Luphole.
