LOVE is definitely in the air at Gowran Park as racing couples could be in with a chance to win a great European break away plus €500 in spending money at the track next Saturday, which is also Velentine’s Day.

It’s all part of Connolly’s Red Mills Day at Gowran Park and the lucky winning couple will be whisked from their home and back to the airport with BMW transfers, courtesy of Morrison BMW and Mini, who have just entered a new partnership with Gowran Park.

Morrison BMW & Mini will sponsor two races and hold several showcases at the Kilkenny track this year, commencing with the Valentine’s Day fixture.

“As Red Mills Day falls on the most romantic day of the year, we have decided to make the day all about couples. All couples who register on the day will receive a complimentary glass of bubbly and enter our draw for the top prize. Lots will be drawn for both the Red Mills Chase and Hurdle whereby each couple will be given the name of a horse and the first two horses home in each race will qualify the lucky couples to a shot for the overall prize,” commented Connolly’s Red Mills marketing executive, Laura McDonald.

General manager of Gowran Park racecourse, Eddie Scally, said: “This is a great idea and a cracking prize. Red Mills Day is always a bumper day for Gowran Park and we expect 2015 to be no different.”

Champion Hurdle favourite Faugheen would be a huge draw for the track if allowed to take his chance in the Red Mills Hurdle.

His trainer Willie Mullins is considering the race for the unbeaten gelding.
