DUNDALK Stadium CEO Jim Martin is looking forward to next year when racing at the venue will be the centrepiece of a free-to-air Friday Club programme on Racing TV.

Racing TV announced plans for the show when launching their rebranded channel, which takes over the rights to show Irish racing from New Year’s Day. The broadcaster has vowed to send a presenter to the track every Friday evening.

“Obviously we are delighted that Dundalk on a Friday night is going to feature on the new channel,” Martin said. “We were assured from the start this would be the case and we’re looking forward to seeing what they can do.”

“I think Racing TV have seen the popularity of the Get In show on At The Races every Friday and are keen to build on that. Racing here on Friday nights has a huge following. I’m obviously always here but, whenever friends or relatives go away, they tell me that you can walk into a pub in Cork or Belfast, and Dundalk will be on the television on a Friday night.”

Racing TV will cost subscribers €31 per month but will broadcast Dundalk’s Friday night meetings free-to-view. The racing at Dundalk is unlikely to clash with other meetings, as Wolverhampton’s usual Friday fare will be shown on Sky Sports Racing. It’s likely that the weekend’s action will be previewed in between races.
