CONGRATULATIONS to Cork-born trainer Conor Murphy on his recent wedding to Julia Hawley from Ohio. Best known for winning £1 million by backing five Cheltenham winners in 2012 when working for Nicky Henderson, Conor now trains in Louisville, Kentucky.

Julia works in Coolmore’s Ashford Stud in Lexington, and the couple have known each other for eight years.

The wedding reception was held at Whitehall House and Gardens, Louisville. Conor’s family, including his grandmother, travelled from Ballineen, Co Cork, for the big day.

Robert Catterson, broadcaster with Paddy Power and an occasional contributor to this paper, married Rachael Kane, another former inmate of The Irish Field, last weekend.
