Hotazhell made a winning trip across to the UK for the Group 1 Futurity Trophy at Doncaster, winning the leading two-year-old race by a small margin.

The son of Too Darn Hot has been impressive since stepping up to the distance of 1m. Here is a look at his options for next season.
2,000 Guineas at Newmarket
Harrington is sure to consider the 2,000 Guineas at Newmarket with her impressive colt. He is 25/1 in the betting in horse racing online for the opening British Classic of the 2025 Flat season.
The Irish trainer has won the Irish 1,000 Guineas and Irish Oaks, but she has yet to land a British Classic. Her latest star is likely to be one of the leading horse racing tips for Guineas weekend, as the Futurity Trophy winner has often gone on to have success at Newmarket.
Hotazhell showed a lot of speed in Doncaster, particularly in the final furlong of the race when holding off the challenge of the Aidan O’Brien-trained Delacroix. Those two rivals may renew their rivalry at Newmarket in the 2,000 Guineas.
The Lion In The Winter currently heads the bookmakers’ 2,000 Guineas betting. O’Brien’s runner broke his maiden at the Curragh and then prevailed in the Acomb Stakes at York’s Ebor Meeting.
Entry In Irish 2,000 Guineas
Hotazhell has an early entry in the Irish 2,000 Guineas at the Curragh. That race takes place three weeks after the British equivalent. Harrington’s colt broke his maiden at the Irish course and then won a Group 2 contest there later in the season.
The Irish 2,000 Guineas has been won by some good horses in recent years. Paddington prevailed in 2023, in what was the first of four consecutive Group 1 victories, while earlier this year, Rosallion landed the race before going on to triumph in the St James’s Palace Stakes at Royal Ascot.

Harrington won the fillies’ version of the Irish Guineas in 2018 with Alpha Centauri. If Hotzahell can overcome the best 1m three-year-old colts in Ireland next May, it will ensure she completes the set of races at the Curragh.
Change In Distance
Another option for Hotzahell next season is to step up or drop down in distance. The Derby at Epsom is sure to be under consideration following the Futurity Trophy success. The colt’s breeding does not make him an obvious Derby horse, however, the Irish trainer may give him a trial early next season to see if he excels over 1m4f.
In the early stages of his career, Hotzahell scored over 7f and he could drop down further than that distance should Harrington target some of the leading three-year-old races next year. The Commonwealth Cup is an option at Royal Ascot, while there are some prestigious sprint races for his age group in Ireland during the summer.
Whatever Harrington decides for her Futurity Trophy winner next season, connections of the horse can be excited about his prospects in 2025.
