Ballyhane Stud has come up with an innovative marketing ploy which allows breeders a chance to win €10,000 worth of vouchers redeemable against nominations to stallions standing at the Co Carlow farm.

The stud’s latest advertisement (see page A9) features a quiz and the 20 questions are about the seven stallions standing at Ballyhane. Entries must be submitted by the end of January and Leo Powell of The Irish Field will draw the winner at random on February 1st.

Joe Foley said: “It’s a new idea which allows us to give something back to breeders, whilst at the same time giving people some fun over the Christmas and new year period.” The ‘Ballyhane Quiz’, also published in the stud’s stallion brochure, could become an annual event, he added.
