THE Careers and Racing Education (CARE) division of Horse Racing Ireland has announced details on a education and training grant programme which will contribute up to €1,000 towards the cost of its accredited courses for members of the racing industry.
If you work in a racing yard, stud farm, at a racecourse or sales house you are eligible for the programme, granted you have been working in the racing industry for the past two years, you are currently working 30+ hours a week with your current employer and the course proposed offers a QQI (or equivalent) award upon successful completion.
The programme will provide €1,000 grant or 50% of the course fee, whichever comes first, to successful applicants and is also open to all jockeys, professional or amateur. It forms part of CARE’s commitment to providing access to education and training opportunities for those in the racing industry.
The programme operates on a reimbursement basis. Applicants to the programme will be required to apply, enrol, and pay any fees due for their selected course themselves. CARE will then reimburse part of this fee upon submission of the completed application form. 50% of the grant will be paid at the commencement of the course and 50% upon successful completion.
