DREAM Of Dreams (119) made it third time lucky in the Group 1 Diamond Jubilee Stakes as conditions relented slightly on Saturday following a dry night, as the emphasis switched more towards speed than stamina.

Despite there being only 12 runners, the field split into two groups with Glen Shiel (116) leading the far side group and Art Power (114) the collective that raced up the centre. The pace was even across the track as the respective leaders ran the first two furlongs in an identical 26.2 seconds.

Aboard the winner, Ryan Moore had taken back after breaking smartly and always held the leaders in his sights.

Once asked for his effort, the son of Dream Ahead picked up smartly clocking a closing sectional of 36.32 seconds, a figure that was almost a second faster than Point Lonsdale (100) and more importantly given the overall race times, over two seconds quicker than Jersey Stakes winner Creative Force (108).

In behind the winner, both Glen Shiel (37.01 seconds) and Art Power (37.36 seconds) finished fast enough to have held those who contested the Jersey Stakes.

Wokingham

In winning the Wokingham Stakes, Rohaan (116) posted an almost identical overall race time and closing sectionals to Dream Of Dreams, giving the overwhelming impression that the David Evans-trained gelding would have won the previous day’s Group 1 Commonwealth Cup had his status allowed him to compete.

Either by design or as a result of missing the break slightly, jockey Shane Kelly found himself last of the group on the far side in the early stages.

However, with supreme confidence, Kelly waited until the passing the furlong pole to make his challenge, sweeping into the lead with little more than a flick with the persuader covering the closing three furlongs in 36.79 seconds.

To further enhance the performance and dispel any theory that the three-year-old was passing horses who were stopping, he covered the final furlong faster (12.76 seconds) than Dream Of Dreams (12.86 seconds).
