Limerick, April 23rd

Kirati Beach

(P. Twomey)

This half-sister to Sir Erec made an encouraging start to her career when finishing sixth to Fizzical in a fillies’ maiden a fortnight ago. She had plenty to do turning for home but finished out well over the last couple of furlongs to be beaten less than six lengths.

It shouldn’t be long before she is making her mark in a maiden.

Warrior Brave

(R. O’Sullivan)

A stakes-placed sprinter in Britain last year, he was unplaced but ran respectably in an Irish Champions Weekend handicap on his debut for Ross O’Sullivan last September and his comeback fourth to Romantic Proposal in a recent listed race was decidedly encouraging. There could be a good pot to be won with him through the summer months.

Naas,April 25th

Fiach McHugh

(A. Slattery)

After winning a Dundalk maiden on his comeback in early April, this gelding took a significant step forward to chase home Ivy League in quite a decent three-year-old premier handicap over a mile on the eve of Punchestown.

The manner in which he travelled through the race was very taking and he looks well equipped to land a premier handicap at some point this season.

Punchestown, April 26th

Rocco Ray

(W.P. Mullins)

He looked very green through the first half of the Goffs Land Rover Bumper with the result that he found himself looking on from the rear of the field for much of the race.

With this in mind, he did very well to finish fifth and the benefit of this initial experience should bring him on dramatically.

Punchestown, April 29th

Da Capo Glory

(P. Butler)

He won his bumper on soft ground and his maiden hurdle on heavy but he showed he was at least as effective on much better ground when running a fine third to El Fabiolo in a novice hurdle last Friday.

There are nice races to be won with him whatever direction connections opt to head in.

Punchestown, April 30th

Halibut

(E. Mullins)

This son of Balko met had to settle for third behind Path D’Oroux in an unraced bumper last Saturday but he ran a race full of promise. He was beaten less than two lengths and the way in which he travelled through the race was striking while also marking him out as a bright prospect for the coming seasons.

Curragh, May 2nd

Dark Vega

(Mrs J. Harrington)

After winning a maiden on her only outing last season, this filly had to step straight into handicap company for her return and she didn’t run at all badly to finish fifth to Independent Expert in quite a reasonable fillies’ handicap. She should progress well from this.

Down Royal, May 2nd

Sholsang

(D.M. Christie)

His point-to-point form was quite mixed but he did shape up well in a beginners’ chase on Monday to chase home Gallyhill.

Possibly decent ground and a drop in trip brought out the best in this gelding who looks quite capable of making his mark through the summer months.

9

Gowran Park, May 4th

Middlemarch

(A.P. O’Brien)

This colt was beaten just under nine lengths in a mile maiden won by Inchturk and he was never able to land a telling blow.

However, he kept on reasonably well from off the pace in a race dominated by those that raced prominently and he could step forward sufficiently from this outing to win a maiden.

Gowran Park, May 4th

Twins For Joy

(T. Gibney)

This filly showed promise on her second run at Dundalk last November and again offered cause for encouragement on her first run since then when beaten just over six lengths into seventh by One For Bobby in a reasonable looking fillies’ maiden.

It may not be long before she is making her mark.
