Capilano Bridge, who has run some of his better races at this track, may be good enough to make a winning chase debut. The six-year-old improved throughout last season over hurdles, running a fine race when second in a Grade B race here in April. His style of jumping suggests that he could make a better chaser and this looks a nice opportunity.

Tullybeg failed to win from two point-to-points starts but has been successful three times under rules. Fresh from recent hurdles win at Down Royal, he looks the biggest threat to Conor O’Dwyer’s horse.

SELECTION: CAPILANO BRIDGE

The West’s Awake should have come on sufficiently from his recent reappearance to be a live contender. Having kept smart company on occasions last year, he always gave the impression of a horse that just didn’t stay. Solid placed efforts at Galway and Listowel suggest he is a well handicapped horse, so this drop back to two and a half miles looks ideal.

Mount Pelier is an intriguing runner on his comeback from a long absence. Well backed to make a winning chasing debut at Galway in 2019, he was subsequently third in a Grade 2 Chase at this track. Despite a long absence to overcome, he could be interesting if primed for this handicap debut.

Raven Rule, who finished second on her only previous start over hurdles, can go one better.

A useful bumper mare last season, the daughter of Court Cave jumped well enough at Clonmel and the experience gained there could now prove quite useful. Despite facing one or two potentially decent rivals, she arrives here in rude health with less to prove.

Mind Your Money could be a serious threat as she remains unexposed after just four career starts. There was much to take from her Fairyhouse fourth and she built on that with a win last time.

Keep ‘Em Lit looks capable of making a winning handicap debut for the Brian Hamilton yard. The six-year-old caught the eye on his latest start when keeping on nicely to be nearest at the finish in a fair maiden hurdle at Navan. Although there has to be a slight negative regarding his relative inexperience, he looks the classiest horse in this race.

Good World won easily at Wexford last time, so has to be a danger despite a subsequent weight rise. He had plenty in hand when successful at the south east track so the handicapper might not have him just yet.

SELECTION: KEEP ‘EM LIT

Esthers Marvel, who may not have seen out the trip at Ballinrobe last time, is worth another chance. Her previous run, when third in a maiden hurdle at Killarney, would give her every chance now. If anything, this tighter track should aid her cause as she likes to bowl along in front.

Outside The Door improved on previous efforts when second at Wexford recently. If he can repeat that performance, then he looks to have a solid chance of being competitive at the very least.

Justbecool can continue Ciaran Murphy’s fine start to training by taking this second division. A consistent sort who has yet to get his head in front, the five-year-old ran well on his only previous visit to this track. The addition of first-time blinkers could bring about further improvement so he has to be considered.

Corey Lord rates a serious danger having just failed to justify favouritism at Wexford recently. Philip Fenton has been among the winners of late and this son of Scorpion holds leading claims.

Walking On Glass, a thorough stayer on the flat, looks well treated on his return to hurdles.

Not too many of these are guaranteed to stay the extreme test of three miles and two furlongs but this battle hardened six-year-old comes into his own granted a real stamina sapping contest. He will handle the soft ground and is well handicapped so ticks plenty of boxes.

Thunderosa has won his last two starts over three miles so should at least stay that far. He remains open to further improvement so has every chance of completing the hat-trick. Whatucallher is an interesting proposition as she will be just the second runner for Eddie and Patrick Harty under their new joint licence (run Lily Light Foot in the 3:50). She finished second to Thunderosa last time and has good previous form at Punchestown.

Polar Peak may be able to take advantage of the significant weight allowance from the top-weight. Fourth of 14 on her racecourse debut at Tipperary last October, she should have learned plenty from that run so can make her presence felt now. Her rider is excellent value for his 7lbs claim, thus enhancing her prospects further.

Never Feel Blue ultimately got the job done quite easily at Kilbeggan, despite needing a couple of remainders. She is clearly a smart filly, though whether she can give weight away to all of these is uncertain.
